Senior Director of Product, TV OS
$275000 - $275000
Position Summary
Senior Director of Product, TV OS
Location: New York
Job Description:
Samsung’s TV platform reaches hundreds of millions of households worldwide. This is the opportunity to shape what comes next.
For more than twenty years, Samsung has led the world in television — more households globally watch on a Samsung screen than any other. The operating system powering those TVs is the platform layer that makes every content experience, every interaction, and every connected moment possible. We are looking for a Senior Director of Product, TV OS to lead the next chapter of that operating system.
This is a rare opportunity to define the product strategy and consumer experience vision for one of the most widely distributed TV platforms in the world — and to explore how emerging capabilities, including AI, can make those experiences smarter, more personal, and more compelling for the hundreds of millions of households that depend on them every day.
The ideal candidate is a platform thinker who has built or led content systems at scale, understands the unique dynamics of a communal screen, and is energized by the intersection of OS design, content discovery, live experiences, and contextual commerce.
Role and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Platform Strategy & Vision
- Define and own the multi-year product strategy for the TV OS consumer experience, from home screen and navigation to content discovery, system interactions, and platform extensibility
- Establish a clear, compelling vision for what the next generation of Samsung’s TV operating system looks like — and build the organizational alignment to pursue it
- Identify where new capabilities — including AI, computer vision, and voice — can be integrated into the OS in ways that feel native and deliver genuine consumer value
- Serve as the internal champion for the platform vision, influencing product leadership, engineering, and executive stakeholders across a global organization
Content Systems & Discovery
- Own the strategy for how content is surfaced, ranked, and personalized across the OS — from algorithmic recommendations and editorial curation to live and contextual experiences
- Define the product approach for live content — sports, news, events — where urgency, real-time context, and social energy require a distinct design and systems approach
- Build the framework for contextual commerce experiences: how the OS surfaces transactional moments naturally, and how purchase intent flows seamlessly between the TV and personal devices
Consumer Experience & Design
- Lead the product vision for new interaction paradigms built for a 10-foot, communal screen — designing for households and shared moments, not individual user profiles
- Partner with design and research teams to ground platform decisions in real consumer behavior, ensuring that ambitious ideas are validated by genuine user insight
- Develop a point of view on how the OS experience should evolve across key consumer verticals: streaming, live sports, gaming, and social viewing
Execution & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Lead cross-functional teams across engineering, design, data science, and content partnerships through complex, multi-year platform initiatives
- Navigate a large, matrixed global organization to build consensus and drive decisions across competing priorities
Skills and Qualifications
Qualifications & Skills
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of product management experience, with significant senior leadership time on consumer-facing platforms — TV operating systems, streaming services, connected devices, or large-scale consumer software
- Demonstrated experience working on or alongside a platform or OS layer, with an understanding of how system-level architecture decisions shape the consumer experiences built on top of them
- Meaningful background in content systems: how content is ingested, surfaced, ranked, and personalized at scale, and where algorithmic and editorial approaches intersect
- Proven track record of shipping platform experiences that introduced genuinely new consumer value, not just incremental improvements to existing products
- Experience leading cross-functional teams in large, matrixed organizations where alignment across engineering, design, and business is essential
- Strong analytical foundation — comfortable with both qualitative consumer research and quantitative product analytics, and able to use both to drive platform decisions
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience with Tizen, Roku OS, Fire TV, webOS, Google TV, or another major smart TV or streaming platform
- Background in personalization systems, recommendation infrastructure, or content metadata at scale
- Experience designing or shipping live content products where real-time context, urgency, and social dynamics shape the user experience
- Exposure to contextual commerce or shoppable content experiences within a media or entertainment platform
- Familiarity with AI or ML integration within a consumer platform, particularly where it has improved a system-level experience
Core Competencies
- Systems thinking — you understand how platform decisions ripple into consumer experience across every surface and interaction
- Consumer obsession — you design for real people in real moments, and you use research and data to stay grounded in that reality
- Strategic clarity — you can hold a long-term vision and translate it into near-term decisions without losing either
- Organizational influence — you build alignment across engineering, design, and business leadership through credibility and communication, not just authority
- Bias toward action — you move with speed and decisiveness in ambiguous environments, and you treat complexity as the work, not an obstacle to it
Compensation for this role, for candidates based in New York, NY, is expected to be between $275,000 ~ $320,000 base. Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role. Regular full-time employees (salaried or hourly) have access to benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Employee Purchase Program, Tuition Assistance (after 6 months), Paid Time Off, Student Loan Program (after 6 months), Wellness Incentives, and many more.
