What You’ll Do

OCC is the world's largest equity derivatives clearing organization—the infrastructure that settles every U.S. options trade. We've recently formed a dedicated AI Research & Engineering team, and we're looking for a Principal AI Engineer to serve as its technical anchor.

This is a senior individual contributor role by design. You won't manage people; you'll do the work, set the technical standard, and lead through expertise. You'll be the primary driver of OCC's agentic AI capabilities, architecting and building the systems that connect AI agents to real enterprise workflows in one of the most consequential and carefully regulated environments in financial markets. You'll shape OCC's AI roadmap alongside the Executive Director of AI Engineering, mentor junior engineers, and have time for experimentation with frontier tools. Our team works directly with AWS and Anthropic, accessing Claude models through both.

• Leverage OCC's direct relationships with AWS and Anthropic to evaluate and adopt new model capabilities and tooling as they become available
• Build and ship production AI applications on AWS using Claude and related Anthropic tooling, maintaining high standards for reliability, security, and auditability
• Architect scalable systems that integrate LLMs and AI agents into OCC's internal systems, operational workflows, and business processes, owning decisions from design through production deployment
• Serve as the primary technical mentor for junior engineers: conducting code and architecture reviews, modeling engineering best practices, and raising the team's overall technical level (no direct reports)
• Define and enforce AI safety standards appropriate for a regulated SIFMU environment, including hallucination detection, output validation, bias assessment, and audit trails that satisfy SEC and CFTC oversight expectations

Leads functional and integration testing for OCCs applications with accountability for test strategy, test planning, execution, automation and governance. This role defines comprehensive quality engineering approach that ensures robust validation of business workflows, scenarios across multiple integrated systems ensuring functional and data coverage using industry leading practices and automation.

OCC is transforming how its technology organization builds software. We have deployed AI-assisted development tools across the firm, enabled citizen development, and established AI governance. The next step is redesigning our software development lifecycle to be AI-native from the ground up — with graduated, tiered standards that work for everything from personal productivity tools to SCI-grade production systems.

Research from Stanford, HumanLayer, and Qodo consistently finds that the documentation and codified practices sufficient for experienced human developers are not detailed enough to drive consistent results from AI agents. Raising that bar benefits everyone — human developers onboard faster, key-person risk drops, and cross-team consistency improves. This role designs graduated standards and practices detailed enough that any competent developer, human or AI, can consume them and produce working code.

You will design a graduated SDLC framework with prescriptive practice standards at each tier of criticality, pilot with real development teams, and drive adoption across the enterprise. The deliverable is a working development lifecycle — not a document.

The Associate Principal of Infrastructure Engineering is responsible for OCC's infrastructure engineering while driving continuous improvement across the production environment. What You'll Do:

What You'll Do:

This position will join OCC's centralized data analytics team to enhance organizational data analytics capabilities through close business partnership, requirements gathering, and solution delivery. The individual will collaborate extensively with the Data Engineering team to architect and develop the internal analytics data layer and maintain supporting ETL processes.

The successful candidate will develop deep expertise in OCC's data models and provide cross-organizational support to maximize data utilization. They will tackle strategic data challenges affecting multiple teams by developing solutions that address immediate needs while anticipating future analytical requirements.

This role involves both promoting and enforcing analytics standards while ensuring business teams have appropriate data access for BI reporting, dashboarding, and ad-hoc analysis needs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.

• Design and maintain OCC analytics solutions drawing from both raw and semantic data layers
• Partner with business units to gather requirements and develop targeted analytics solutions
• Create data models ensuring information availability in the analytics warehouse for analysis and dashboard development
• Help establish Data Analytics standards and collaborate with embedded business analysts to ensure adherence
• Develop comprehensive documentation and testing protocols to guarantee data accuracy and accessibility
• Identify and distribute data and analytics best practices across the team
• Continuously expand knowledge of data and analytics engineering methodologies to enhance infrastructure maintainability and reliability
• Champion self-service capabilities and data literacy among business users through semantic layer utilization, analytics platforms (Tableau, Python), and CI/CD tools
• Pursue ongoing professional development in data analytics, cloud computing, options trading, and financial risk management to improve analytics infrastructure
• Provide guidance to business-embedded data analysts in addressing analytical challenges and support ad-hoc development needs

Duties:

Design, develop and maintain new and existing automation frameworks. Evaluate test cases for inclusion in test regression, tests coverage and automation of newly implemented functionality.
