As a Hardware Systems Engineer - Board Design within the Silicon Validation Hardware team, you will support the development of next-generation, high-performance, power-efficient system-on-chip processors. Your daily responsibilities include developing specifications from cross-functional requirements, performing schematic capture, circuit design, and defining layout and routing constraints. You will conduct design reviews, simulations, and board bring-up while performing testing, characterization, and debugging of complex system-level problems. Key technical skills include FPGA and CPLD development, power and signal integrity analysis, and high-speed interface design. You must possess strong fundamentals in transistor operation, timing analysis, and digital logic. Required tools and languages include Verilog, VHDL, and test automation using Perl, Tcl, or Python, alongside proficiency with scopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
Develop hardware specifications based on requirements from cross-functional teams.
Perform schematic capture, circuit design, and define layout and routing constraints.
Develop and implement FPGA and CPLD designs.
Conduct board bring-up, testing, characterization, and debugging.
Perform power and signal integrity analysis.
Design and characterize high-speed interfaces.
Debug complex system-level issues on test boards and production systems.
What we're looking for
BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related degree with 10 years of experience.
Experience with schematic level board design (preferred).
Understanding of board bringup and debug strategies (preferred).
Strong fundamentals in EE concepts including transistor operation, signal integrity, transmission lines, timing analysis, and digital logic (preferred).
RTL experience using Verilog or VHDL, preferably with FPGA design experience (preferred).
Proficiency with standard hardware lab equipment including scopes, logic and spectrum analyzers, signal generators, eLoads, and protocol analyzers (preferred).
Test automation expertise using Perl, Tcl, or Python (preferred).
