As a Hardware Systems Engineer - Board Design within the Silicon Validation Hardware team, you will contribute to the development of high-performance, power-efficient system-on-chip technology. Your daily responsibilities include developing specifications from cross-functional requirements, performing schematic capture and circuit design, defining layout and routing constraints, and conducting simulations. You will be responsible for FPGA and CPLD development, board bring-up, testing, characterization, and debugging complex system-level problems. The role requires expertise in power and signal integrity analysis alongside high-speed interface design. Key technical skills include proficiency with Verilog or VHDL for RTL, experience with standard lab equipment like scopes and logic analyzers, and test automation using Perl, Tcl, or Python. You will solve critical engineering challenges to ensure seamless performance across various hardware platforms through rigorous testing and characterization of production systems.
Develop technical specifications based on requirements from cross-functional teams.
Perform schematic capture, circuit design, and define layout and routing constraints.
Design and implement test and characterization circuits in the lab.
Conduct FPGA and CPLD development for system functionality.
Execute board bring-up, testing, characterization, and debugging of hardware systems.
Perform power and signal integrity analysis for high-speed interfaces.
Debug complex system-level issues on test boards and production systems.
What we're looking for
BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related degree program.
Experience with schematic level board design (preferred).
Understanding of board bringup and debug strategies (preferred).
Strong fundamentals in EE concepts including transistor operation, signal integrity, transmission lines, timing analysis, and digital logic (preferred).
RTL experience using Verilog or VHDL (preferred).
FPGA design experience (preferred).
Proficiency with standard hardware lab equipment such as scopes, logic/spectrum analyzers, signal generators, eLoads, and protocol analyzers (preferred).
Test automation expertise using Perl, Tcl, or Python (preferred).
