VP, Functional Design Engineering

What you'll do

• Translate enterprise architecture intent into implementable, well-architected, code-driven engineering specifications and solutions.
• Produce detailed engineering specifications aligned to the AWS Well-Architected Framework and company standards.
• Curate the cross-CCOE reference pattern library, including Terraform module bundles, reference architectures, and ADRs.
• Lead design reviews, architecture review boards, and engineering deep-dives across multiple cloud engineering teams.
• Contribute hands-on to reference patterns, Terraform modules, and proof-of-concept builds in high-ambiguity areas.
• Embed agentic AI capabilities into engineering practices and the platform's self-service experience for internal customers.
• Recruit, develop, and manage a globally distributed team of senior cloud engineers across the US and India.
• Serve as a senior incident commander and technical escalation point for 24x7 on-call rotations.

What we're looking for

• 10+ years of progressive technical experience including 5+ years in cloud infrastructure or platform engineering leadership.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent work experience).
• 5+ years of hands-on production AWS experience in a multi-account landing zone.
• 4+ years of experience authoring production Terraform in a private module ecosystem using Terraform Cloud and GitHub Actions.
• 5+ years of experience as a direct people manager of engineering teams of 5+ engineers.
• 5+ years of experience leading and participating in 24x7 production on-call rotations in a regulated environment (financial services strongly preferred).
• 5+ years of experience translating enterprise architecture into engineering designs with deep command of the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
• AWS Certified Security - Specialty (preferred); AWS Certified Data Engineer - Associate or Data Analytics - Specialty (preferred); AWS Solutions Architect - Professional (preferred); AWS Certified Generative AI Developer - Associate (preferred); HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate (004) or Authoring & Operations (preferred); Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) (preferred).
