JOB TITLE: Staff SoC Architect, AI Data Center The Staff SoC Architect, AI Data Center joins the Data Center AI Architecture team to define next-generation cloud AI system-on-chip systems for generative AI inference workloads. This role involves translating product and workload requirements into SoC and system specifications while driving feature-set requirements across technology, IP, platform, and software teams. Key responsibilities include executing architecture studies to quantify performance, power, area, cost, and memory bandwidth tradeoffs, as well as correlating observed system performance with models to identify root causes of gaps. The position requires expertise in processors, accelerators, memory systems, and data center network fabrics. Candidates should possess skills in C++, Python, and experience with protocols like LPDDR, HBM, DDR, or GDDR, while addressing bottlenecks in Large Language Model inference.

What you'll do

  • Translate product and workload requirements into SoC and system specifications.
  • Execute SoC and system architecture studies to quantify performance, power, area, and cost tradeoffs.
  • Follow designs through implementation and production to correlate observed performance with models.
  • Identify root causes of performance gaps and drive cross-functional performance closure.
  • Execute competitive analysis across SoC, platform, memory, and data center networking.
  • Support and mentor technical contributors while generating innovations and patents.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Systems Engineering experience.
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Systems Engineering experience.
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Engineering experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in system architecture technology areas such as Power Systems, Shared Resource Management, or Thermal Management.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in SoC, platform, or system architecture; AI accelerators; or memory technologies (preferred).
  • Experience in processor, accelerator, or system architecture including ISA design, microarchitecture, and hardware/software co-design.
  • Knowledge of DRAM and memory-controller architecture, protocols like LPDDR/HBM, and emerging technologies like 3D integration.
  • Programming ability for architecture modeling and automation; object-oriented C++ and Python preferred.
