TL;DR · Staff Cyber Systems Engineer

The Staff Cyber Systems Engineer joins the Advanced Tactical Missions Business Unit to ensure cyber protection needs are integrated into system designs. This role involves assessing stakeholder cybersecurity requirements to derive and refine protections at all levels, influencing security architecture, and guiding tool selection. You will identify security risks, evaluate costs and benefits of security functions, and author critical documentation including System Security Plans and Risk Assessment Reports. Key responsibilities include applying these skills to Cross Domain Solutions and managing RMF accreditation functions. Required expertise includes NIST 800-37, NIST 800-53, and NIST SP 800-160 standards. You must possess a TS/SCI clearance and certifications like Security+ or CISSP. Technical proficiency with DOORS, CAMEO, and DevSecOps pipelines is preferred for this mission-critical defense work.

What you'll do

  • Support the architecture and design of baked-in cybersecurity requirements and protections.
  • Provide cybersecurity system engineering implementation guidance and oversight to technical teams.
  • Review and assess stakeholder security objectives, protection needs, and associated verification methods.
  • Identify and evaluate the costs and benefits of security functions to inform engineering trade-offs.
  • Author and maintain cybersecurity program documentation and RMF package documentation.
  • Apply cybersecurity engineering responsibilities to Cross Domain Solutions and other specific technical areas.
  • Integrate cyber systems engineering requirements with Program System Development Life Cycle initiatives.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 12 years of relevant experience; 10 years with a Master's; 8 years with a PhD.
  • Active U.S. Government TS/SCI clearance current and within scope at time of application and willingness to sit for a polygraph.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Direct experience developing RMF assessment and authorization documentation.
  • Experience of RMF (NIST 800-37) accreditation functions, including documentation, scanning, assessment, and POAM management.
  • Experience with requirements development from control listings and integrating Cyber Systems Engineering requirements with SDLC initiatives.
  • Experience of Department of War (DoW)/Intelligence Community (IC) System Security Engineering activities.
  • Possession of Security+ Certification or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) Certification.
  • Experience working in an Agile execution framework.
  • Preferred: Active TS/SCI with an adjudicated polygraph.
  • Preferred: Expertise with all aspects of Systems Security Engineering as defined in NIST SP 800-160.
  • Preferred: System security architecture experience.
  • Preferred: Experience in configuring and deploying Cross Domain Solutions (CDS).
  • Preferred: Experience working with DOORS and CAMEO Security related tool suites in DevSecOps pipelines.
  • Preferred: Experience in Communications Security (COMSEC).
  • Preferred: Experience working on a multidisciplinary team and developing technical proposals.
