The Cyber Systems Engineer (S) joins the Mission Defense Cyber Team to support the Sentinel program. This role involves implementing weapon system requirements to ensure cyber survivability by decomposing, deriving, and refining cybersecurity requirements across all system levels. The engineer will guide security architecture, influence tool selection, and evaluate realized implementations to identify risks and attack surfaces. Key responsibilities include developing verification efforts, defining security governance, and ensuring compliance with standards like CNSSI 1253 and DoD 8570. The position requires expertise in NIST 800-160, RMF assessment artifacts, and systems engineering activities such as architecture and integration. Candidates should possess skills in MBSE tools like Cameo, IBM DOORs, and containerized software systems within an Agile, DevSecOps environment to support Launch and Missile Defense systems.
Decompose and refine system cybersecurity requirements to drive built-in protections into the architecture and design.
Guide the security layout and architecture while influencing the selection and development of security tools.
Evaluate proposed implementations to identify security risks, attack surfaces, and verify integrated protections.
Support the development of verification efforts to ensure cybersecurity capabilities are functional and complete.
Ensure weapon system compliance with contractually obligated standards including CNSSI 1253, DoD 8570, and DoD 8510.
Propose and design cyber systems architecture changes with full traceability to requirements.
Perform cyber-attack surface analysis of system designs and provide recommendations to mitigate risks.
Participate in cybersecurity assessment activities, including the planning and execution of security penetration tests.
What we're looking for
Must have a Bachelor's degree with 2 years of experience in Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
Must have 6 years of experience in cyber system engineering related fields in lieu of a degree.
Must have direct experience utilizing NIST 800-160 system security engineer and/or the system development life cycle.
Must have direct experience in systems engineering activities including requirements decomposition, architecture, design, implementation, integration, test, and verification.
Must have direct experience supporting the development of RMF assessment authorization artifacts to satisfy NIST SP 800-37 requirements.
Must have an active Secret clearance and be able to obtain a Top-Secret clearance.
Must be able to obtain cyber certifications commensurate with the role within 6 months of hire.
