The Staff Cyber Systems Engineer joins the Mission Defense Cyber Team to support the Sentinel program. This role involves implementing weapon system requirements to ensure cyber survivability by decomposing, deriving, and refining cybersecurity requirements across all system levels. The engineer will guide security architecture, influence tool selection, and evaluate realized implementations to identify risks and attack surfaces. Key responsibilities include developing verification efforts, defining security governance, and ensuring compliance with standards like CNSSI 1253, DoD 8570, and DoD 8510. The position requires expertise in NIST 800-160, RMF documentation, and the system development life cycle. Candidates should be proficient with DOORS, CAMEO, and DevSecOps tools like SonarQube and Fortify. The work focuses on developing and enhancing Launch and Missile Defense systems within an Agile environment.
Decompose and refine customer cybersecurity requirements into system-level architecture and design specifications.
Guide the security layout, architecture, and selection of security tools for weapon systems.
Evaluate proposed implementations to identify security risks, attack surfaces, and verify protection integration.
Support the development of verification efforts to ensure cybersecurity capabilities are functional and complete.
Ensure weapon system compliance with contractually obligated standards including CNSSI 1253, DoD 8570, and DoD 8510.
Perform cyber-attack surface analysis of system designs and provide recommendations to mitigate risks.
Participate in engineering reviews of technical requirements, design plans, and digital communications systems.
Develop and document technical standard engineering processes and procedures as needed.
What we're looking for
Must have a Bachelor's degree with 12 years, Master's with 10 years, PhD with 8 years, or 18 years of experience in a related technical field.
Must have direct experience utilizing NIST 800-160 system security engineering and the system development life cycle.
Must have direct experience processing SOW, requirements, architecture, design, implementation, integration, verification, validation, and field tests.
Must have direct experience developing RMF assessment and authorization documentation.
Must possess a current DoD 8570 certification for IASAE Level II (CISSP) and the ability to obtain IASAE Level III within 6 months.
Must have an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret with SAP access.
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Experience with system security architecture, DOORS, CAMEO, and DevSecOps tools like SonarQube or Fortify (preferred).
