The Sr Manager, Digital Design and Signal Processing (Lead and Architecture) joins the Communication Systems-West team to manage the Project Lead and Architecture group. This leadership role involves managing a large team of technical leaders while guiding the technical direction and life-cycle execution of complex development efforts from concept through System Integration and Test. Key responsibilities include coordinating staffing, forecasting, and mentoring while overseeing architecture for Electronic Warfare, Optical, Software Defined Radio, and Satellite Communications systems. The role requires expertise in requirements decomposition, FPGA and HDL solutions, and technical risk mitigation. Candidates must utilize tools like DOORS and MS Project to support secure development environments. This position solves critical technical problems in defense and aerospace by developing high-quality specifications, waveforms, and cryptographic devices for mission-critical systems.
Manage the Project Lead and Architecture team to guide technical direction and life-cycle execution of complex development efforts.
Coordinate department resources, staffing, and forecasting to meet organizational commitments and business needs.
Provide technical leadership across the full system life cycle, including architecture, requirements analysis, and design synthesis.
Develop system architectures and technical roadmaps for products like Software Defined Radios and Electronic Warfare systems.
Oversee requirements decomposition, traceability, and verification planning across FPGA and HDL solutions.
Drive technical risk identification, mitigation planning, and issue resolution across development and production efforts.
Support bid and proposal efforts by creating technical volumes, basis of estimates, and customer demonstrations.
Establish and enforce disciplined software and HDL engineering processes, tools, and metrics to ensure technical quality.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline with at least 12 years of related experience.
Graduate Degree with at least 10 years of related experience.
Active Secret clearance required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance.
U.S. citizenship required to obtain a security clearance.
Minimum of 5 years of technical leadership, functional leadership, or engineering management experience leading cross-disciplinary teams on complex defense or aerospace programs (preferred).
Active Top-Secret clearance, TS/SCI eligibility, or access is strongly desired (preferred).
Strong knowledge of systems engineering processes including requirements management, architecture development, interface definition, integration, verification, validation, and qualification (preferred).
Experience with risk management, earned value or schedule-driven technical execution, and coordination across internal teams (preferred).
