TL;DR · Specialist, Electrical Engineering - FPGA/ ASIC Hardware Engineer

Specialist, Electrical Engineering - FPGA/ ASIC Hardware Engineer will join the engineering team to focus on the architecture, design, and development of next-generation Electronic Safe and Arm Devices for DOD weapon systems. The role involves designing and debugging FPGA and microcontroller products, including sensor interfaces, sequence verification, A/D and D/A interfaces, communication protocols, state machines, and timer chains. Key responsibilities include developing Verilog HDL targeting Antifuse and enhanced Flash FPGAs, performing functional analysis in test environments, and contributing to process improvements for hardware-firmware quality. The candidate will utilize Microsemi or Actel FPGAs, QuestaSim for simulation, and C# for bare-metal microcontroller development. Required skills include Verilog, SystemVerilog UVM verification, C programming for embedded systems, and proficiency with lab tools like logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, JTAG debuggers, and protocol analyzers to solve complex fuzing solution challenges.

What you'll do

  • Design and develop next-generation Electronic Safe and Arm Devices using state-of-the-art technologies.
  • Define architecture and perform design and debugging for FPGA products and associated hardware.
  • Develop Verilog HDL targeting Antifuse and enhanced Flash FPGAs.
  • Perform SystemVerilog UVM verification to ensure functional integrity of designs.
  • Develop C# source code for bare-metal microcontroller applications.
  • Analyze performance profiles and debug functional issues in test environments or target host systems.
  • Implement communication protocols, state machines, and timer chains for DOD weapon systems.
  • Contribute to process improvements to enhance hardware-firmware quality and time-to-market.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree and 4 years of experience, a graduate degree and 2 years of experience, or no degree and 8 years of experience.
  • Experience in Verilog HDL design targeting Antifuse and enhanced Flash FPGAs.
  • Proficiency in SystemVerilog UVM verification (preferred).
  • Programming experience in C for embedded systems including algorithm development and data structures (preferred).
  • Experience developing C# source code for bare-metal microcontroller development (preferred).
  • Familiarity with lab tools such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, JTAG/ICE debuggers, and protocol analyzers (preferred).
  • Knowledge of hardware, software, and firmware development methodologies including design verification and unit testing (preferred).
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance (must be a U.S. citizen).
