Software Engineering LMTS - Data (Remote) joins the Data Team to serve as a technical leader for the foundational data layer of the platform. You will design and ship end-to-end data systems, including models, ETL pipelines, event streaming, analytics stores, and APIs. Your work ensures data correctness and freshness for every product area and AI agent, specifically managing leads, accounts, and Salesforce syncs. You will define data quality standards like SLOs and data contracts while mentoring others and improving team processes. The role requires expertise in PostgreSQL at scale, OLAP systems like ClickHouse, CDC, and ETL orchestration. You will solve complex data movement problems to power Piper's intelligence and customer-facing reporting within an enterprise SaaS environment using modern stacks including Rails and AWS.

What you'll do

Design and ship end-to-end data systems including models, pipelines, sync, and serving layers.
Drive technical design for high-volume systems like ETL, event streaming, and analytics stores.
Own and manage Salesforce data flows at an enterprise scale.
Build analytics and insights infrastructure for customer-facing reporting and internal decision-making.
Define and enforce data quality standards, SLOs, data contracts, and observability tools.
Manage the full delivery lifecycle from initial scoping and design through launch and monitoring.
Provide technical leadership through mentoring, code reviews, and improving engineering standards.

What we're looking for

Proven experience building and operating production data systems at scale, including pipelines, data models, or high-volume backend services.
Strong depth in PostgreSQL at scale, OLAP systems, CDC and event streaming, ETL orchestration, or data modeling for CRM domains.
Demonstrated technical leadership to influence architecture and execution beyond an immediate workstream.
Track record of delivering complex projects with multiple stakeholders, dependencies, or phases.
Ability to operate in ambiguity and drive clarity for a newer team with evolving roadmaps and conventions.
Pragmatic approach to reliability including data contracts, backfills, idempotency, and failure handling.
Experience with modern stacks like Rails, Postgres, and AWS (preferred).
Experience supporting AI/ML or agentic products, enterprise SaaS, real-time systems, or startup environments (preferred).
