The Server IO Specialist, Sr. Director of Technology joins the CPU Engineering group to lead the architecture through commercialization of end-to-end Server IO solutions. This role involves defining and documenting requirements for datacenter SoCs, collaborating with IP design and performance teams to optimize PPA trade-offs, and ensuring implementation aligns with specifications. The position requires deep expertise in PCIe and CXL technologies, including emerging standards like UAL. Key technical competencies include microarchitecture for coherent IO subsystems, IOMMU/SMMU architecture, and high-speed interconnects like PCIe Gen5-7 and CXL2.0-CXL3.0. Candidates must understand multiprocessor system architecture, memory subsystems, and confidential compute technologies like TDISP. The work focuses on designing high-performance, low-power IO datapath solutions between hosts and devices within advanced process nodes.
Define and document IO architecture requirements and solutions for the chip.
Architect end-to-end Server IO solutions including PCIe, CXL, and UAL technologies.
Optimize end-to-end solutions for PPA trade-offs with IP design and performance teams.
Develop architectural solutions to meet specific customer technical requirements for new products.
Ensure hardware implementation aligns with specifications by working with design and verification teams.
Communicate architectural concepts and requirements to silicon, system, and software stakeholders.
Design coherent IO subsystems including power management, debug, and RAS features.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 10+ years of relevant engineering experience.
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 9+ years of relevant engineering experience.
PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 8+ years of relevant engineering experience.
Over 15 years of experience in architecting solutions for PCIe, CXL, or similar IO technologies (preferred).
12+ years in developing IO architecture for high-speed IO like PCIe Gen5-7 and CXL2.0-CXL3.0 (preferred).
Strong expertise in IOMMU/SMMU architecture, micro-architecture, and fully coherent/IO coherent protocol flows (preferred).
Detailed knowledge of multiprocessor system architecture, memory/IO subsystems, high-speed interconnects, operating systems, and platform firmware (preferred).
Experience with ARM ISA, confidential compute technologies, and accelerator technologies like UAL or NVLink (preferred).
