As a Principal Edge Architect - Hardware and Interface, you will own the edge system hardware and interface architecture for the NVIDIA Thor-based machine autonomy platform. You will define the architecture for compute modules, breakout boards, and critical interfaces including Ethernet, GMSL, CAN, USB, PCIe, UART, and I2C. Your daily work involves assessing system constraints across CPU, GPU, memory, storage, power, thermal limits, and network bandwidth to support perception, robotics, and safety-related autonomy services. You will collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to identify hardware gaps and recommend expansion strategies. This role addresses the complex challenge of construction autonomy by building intelligent systems that allow machines to perceive environments and make informed decisions. Required expertise includes platform architecture, data architecture, and deep knowledge of embedded systems or vehicle compute platforms.

What you'll do

Define the hardware architecture for the NVIDIA Thor-based machine autonomy platform.
Own the design of edge platform interfaces including Ethernet, GMSL, CAN, USB, and PCIe.
Assess system constraints across CPU, GPU, memory, storage, power, and thermal limits.
Evaluate sensor bandwidth and input/output capacity to support perception and robotics services.
Identify hardware gaps and integration risks through collaboration with internal teams and suppliers.
Recommend expansion, upgrade, or platform improvement strategies based on identified technical limitations.
Ensure the edge system supports data logging, transmission, diagnostics, and safety-related autonomy features.

What we're looking for

Expert knowledge of techniques and tools for analytical thinking and root cause analysis.
Expert knowledge of platform architecture to design processing mechanisms, roadmaps, and supportive interfaces.
Expert knowledge of data architecture to integrate resources and convert business requirements into technical designs.
Expert understanding of communication concepts to transmit and interpret information effectively.
Expert knowledge of leadership concepts to enlist others in achieving objectives.
Experience with edge hardware platforms, embedded systems, or vehicle compute platforms (preferred).
Experience with NVIDIA Jetson/Thor hardware and ecosystem (preferred).
Deep understanding of CPU, GPU, memory, storage, network bandwidth, power, thermal limits, and hardware expansion tradeoffs.
