Lead Java Software Engineer

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and implement scalable microservices and foundational frameworks for trade processing and clearing.
• Write high-quality, performant Java code using object-oriented principles and sophisticated design patterns.
• Solve complex business problems and technical issues related to high-throughput market maker clearing and financing workflows.
• Ensure the quality, maintainability, and extensibility of supported risk applications and system components.
• Lead the team to meet compliance and risk management requirements for all supported technology areas.
• Mentor less experienced software engineers on engineering best practices and technical development.
• Leverage Generative AI tools and technologies to produce high-quality code and improve development productivity.
• Propose and implement AI-driven solutions to optimize various technology processes.

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience or equivalent.
• 5+ years of hands-on Core Java development with expertise in memory management, multithreading, and JNI integration.
• 3+ years of experience in Capital Markets Technology, specifically in equities/options trade processing and clearing.
• 3+ years of experience designing high-throughput, fault-tolerant, distributed, and microservices-based systems.
• 2+ years of experience with SQL databases like Oracle or SQL Server, including schema design and query optimization.
• 2+ years of experience designing and supporting containerized applications using OpenShift and Kubernetes.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
• Strong knowledge of Generative AI, LLMs, and modern AI coding agents (preferred).
