The Senior Full-stack Java Developer, VP is a senior-level software engineering leadership role within the Exchange-Traded Derivatives Clearing technology organization. You will drive platform modernization by leading the replacement of legacy product processors and delivering strategic capabilities across a global clearing infrastructure. Day-to-day responsibilities include hands-on Java development, providing L3 production support for real-time message flows from global futures markets, and mentoring engineers. You will build scalable, secure, cloud-native applications and APIs using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture. Key technologies include Kafka, IBM MQ, Solace, OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, Redis, and Couchbase. You will also implement CI/CD pipelines using Git and Maven while leveraging AI-assisted tools like GitHub Copilot. This role solves critical technical problems within capital markets, specifically regarding high-volume, low-latency trade processing and clearing.
Perform hands-on Java development and provide L3 production support for the core ETD Clearing platform.
Lead the design and delivery of scalable, secure, and resilient cloud-native applications and APIs.
Drive platform transformation by replacing legacy product processors with modern cloud and containerization technologies.
Champion the adoption of AI-assisted software engineering tools to accelerate development cycles and automate processes.
Establish and maintain CI/CD, DevOps, and observability practices to enhance platform stability and reliability.
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers while promoting technical best practices and a culture of continuous improvement.
Manage technical risk, application health, and regulatory compliance in alignment with corporate standards.
Coordinate release planning and delivery with global engineering teams and technology leads.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technology, a related degree, or equivalent relevant experience.
6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience delivering enterprise-scale applications in complex, global environments.
Deep expertise in Java-based application development, including Spring Boot, microservices architecture, and distributed systems design.
Hands-on experience with messaging platforms such as Kafka, IBM MQ, or Solace in high-throughput, low-latency environments.
Proven experience designing, building, and operating cloud-native applications on container platforms such as OpenShift, Kubernetes, and Docker.
Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, observability tooling, and performance monitoring using technologies such as Git, Maven/Gradle, OpenTelemetry, and Grafana.
Demonstrated ability to leverage AI-assisted software engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot or Devin to improve developer productivity.
Experience within financial services, preferably supporting Trade Processing, Clearing, Middle Office, or related capital markets platforms (preferred).
