Industrial Engineer
The Industrial Engineer joins the Operations Group to manage lab infrastructure readiness and space utilization. This role involves maintaining an accurate system of record for power and cooling systems, performing site assessments, and conducting technical due diligence to identify constraints and risks. The individual will develop standardized infrastructure profiles, perform capacity modeling, and conduct trade studies to provide data-driven recommendations for space upgrades or new builds. Key responsibilities include optimizing lab layouts, managing data governance, and leading Lean or Six Sigma process improvements. The role requires expertise in power distribution, cooling capacity, and heat-load estimation. Candidates should be proficient in Excel-based modeling, Power BI, SQL, and potentially Python. Additionally, the position utilizes AI/ML techniques for predictive modeling and demand forecasting to solve complex infrastructure planning challenges within high-density compute and R&D laboratory environments.
Maintain an audit-ready inventory of lab infrastructure attributes including power, cooling systems, and key constraints.
Perform site walks and technical due diligence to identify capacity risks and document necessary upgrades.
Develop standardized infrastructure profiles and load templates to ensure consistent planning for different lab types.
Conduct feasibility studies and trade studies to provide decision-ready recommendations on space reuse, upgrades, or new builds.
Model demand versus capacity to identify bottlenecks and translate forecasted needs into roadmap triggers.
Design and optimize lab layouts and workflows to improve productivity, safety, and equipment flow.
Apply AI/ML techniques and data analytics to forecast demand, detect anomalies, and automate decision-making tools.
Lead process improvement initiatives using Lean or Six Sigma methodologies to enhance lab operations and scalability.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Engineering, Industrial Architecture, or a related field.
5+ years of relevant experience in lab, facilities, critical environments, manufacturing, or infrastructure planning.
Working knowledge of building electrical distribution and cooling concepts including heat-load estimation and airflow constraints.
Experience performing site assessments and due diligence to provide feasibility recommendations and documented risks.
Strong analytical skills for Excel-based modeling and communication skills for cross-functional stakeholder engagement.
Proficiency with reporting/analytics tools like Power BI, SQL, or Python is preferred.
Preferred experience applying AI/ML techniques for data quality, forecasting, and decision-support automation.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred but not required.
