TL;DR · Senior Industrial Engineer, Simulation

Senior Industrial Engineer, Simulation joins the Manufacturing Design Team to own and scale the company's manufacturing simulation capability as a durable, decision-grade asset. This role involves architecting discrete event simulation and operations research models to de-risk capital expenditures, evaluate design trade-offs, and validate production plans for complex defense hardware. You will manage the simulation intake process, develop data pipelines to integrate live production metrics, and conduct high-stakes studies including capacity modeling, NPI ramp simulations, and ROI analysis for automation investments. The role requires expertise in discrete event simulation software, Python, SQL, and statistical methods like Monte Carlo and linear programming. You will solve complex manufacturing problems involving resource contention and queue dynamics within a multi-variant, low-volume production environment to ensure manufacturing predictability across various hardware systems including sensors, ground equipment, and flight vehicles.

What you'll do

  • Architect and maintain the company’s discrete event simulation and operations research capabilities as long-lived, durable assets.
  • Manage the intake and prioritization process for simulation requests from across the organization to ensure high-impact studies are resourced first.
  • Develop simulation models at various stages of manufacturing development to validate line designs, identify bottlenecks, and confirm rate readiness.
  • Design data pipelines that integrate live production data into models to ensure they reflect current cycle times, yields, and equipment status.
  • Conduct high-stakes studies including capacity modeling, capital investment analysis, and production risk scenarios for leadership decision-making.
  • Translate complex simulation outputs into digestible dashboards and reports for non-technical stakeholders in program management and finance.
  • Drive the migration of legacy planning tools onto a centralized, database-backed platform to establish a single source of truth.
  • Establish standards for model validation, version control, and AI-assisted development to ensure accuracy across the manufacturing organization.

What we're looking for

  • Must be a U.S. Person due to export-controlled information requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • 6+ years of experience building simulation or operations-research models for manufacturing decisions.
  • Expertise in discrete event simulation software (e.g., Simio, FlexSim, AnyLogic) and related statistics.
  • Proficiency in analytical methods including Monte Carlo, regression, and mathematical optimization.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL to build data pipelines and perform analysis.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation like facility drawings and manufacturing procedures.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical results to non-technical decision-makers.
