TL;DR · Senior Industrial Engineer, Labor Standards

Senior Industrial Engineer, Labor Standards joins the Manufacturing Design Team to own and scale the enterprise labor standards capability. This role involves architecting a durable system for quantifying manufacturing cycle times across diverse products ranging from early prototypes to steady-state production. You will define methodologies for time studies—including stopwatch, MODAPTS, MTM, video analysis, and work sampling—while developing standardized tools, data collection forms, and a centralized repository integrated with MES systems. Key responsibilities include managing labor standards through engineering change orders, conducting high-stakes studies for line stand-ups, and translating data into actionable insights for capacity planning and cost estimation. The role requires expertise in industrial engineering fundamentals, technical documentation, and potentially Python, SQL, or Power BI to analyze trends. You will solve the challenge of replacing inconsistent, manual tracking with a governed, scalable system for complex defense hardware manufacturing.

What you'll do

  • Architect and manage the enterprise labor standards system to ensure consistent, traceable, and defensible time data across all manufacturing sites.
  • Define standardized methodologies for conducting time studies, including observation protocols, sample sizing, and performance rating.
  • Create and deploy standardized tools, templates, and reporting formats for consistent data collection across various business lines.
  • Maintain a centralized labor standards repository integrated with the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) as the single source of truth.
  • Establish processes to trigger and update time studies throughout the product lifecycle, specifically during engineering change orders (ECO).
  • Conduct high-stakes time studies for new production line stand-ups, cost reduction initiatives, and make-vs-buy analyses.
  • Translate validated labor data into actionable insights for line balancing, staffing models, capacity planning, and cost estimation.
  • Mentor other engineers on time study methodologies and integrate AI tools to accelerate data extraction and analysis.

What we're looking for

  • Must be a U.S. Person due to export-controlled information requirements.
  • 6+ years of experience developing and maintaining labor standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in multiple time study methodologies including stopwatch, MODAPTS, MTM, video analysis, or work sampling.
  • Deep understanding of time study fundamentals such as element breakdown, performance rating, allowance determination, and statistical basis for standards.
  • Experience designing and deploying standardized time study processes, tools, and templates across an organization.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating labor standards with MES, ERP, or production planning systems.
  • Ability to read technical documentation including work instructions, assembly drawings, and manufacturing procedures for electromechanical products.
  • Proven ability to build systems that ensure organizational adoption, governance, and long-term scalability.
