As a Hardware Engineering Technical Leader on the Acacia team, you will join a multi-disciplinary organization of hardware, software, optics, and DSP engineers. You will contribute to the hardware life cycle of high-speed coherent optical interconnect products, specifically focusing on 400G, 800G, and 1.6T technologies. Your daily responsibilities include the architecture, specification, design, and validation of new hardware to solve complex bandwidth and power-efficiency challenges. You will utilize expertise in telecommunications and high-speed electro-optical transmission systems to resolve problems during the NPI phase. Required skills include transmission line theory, DC-DC power converters, and analog/RF simulation tools like LTSpice and ADS. You must also possess experience with VxDesigner, Allegro PCB layout, and constraint management for high-speed signaling above 50+ GHz.

What you'll do

Contribute to the hardware life cycle of high-speed coherent optical interconnect products.
Architecture, specify, design, and validate new hardware components.
Resolve complex problems during the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase.
Apply expertise in telecommunications and high-speed electro-optical transmission systems.
Manage PCB layout and constraints for high-speed signaling above 50+ GHz.
Perform analog and RF simulations using tools like LTSpice and ADS.
Debug hardware using state-of-the-art test equipment and lab skills.
Implement digital control loops and DSP functions for optical systems.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of relevant experience, Master's with 7+ years, or PhD with 3+ years of relevant experience.
Degree in Electrical Engineering, a physical science, or a related field (preferred).
Demonstrated experience with transmission line theory and effects including micro strip, strip line, and CPW.
Demonstrated experience with high-efficiency DC-DC power converters.
Demonstrated experience with analog/RF simulation tools such as LTSpice and ADS.
Demonstrated experience with VxDesigner and working knowledge of Allegro PCB and SiP Layout tools.
Demonstrated experience with PCB layout and constraint management tools for high-speed signaling above 50+ GHz.
Demonstrated experience with debugging and lab skills including state-of-the-art test equipment.
Experience with Power Integrity simulations and tools (preferred).
Knowledge of optical components, lasers, modulators, detectors, and DWDM technologies (preferred).
Understanding and implementing digital control loops and DSP functions (preferred).
Working knowledge of Python (preferred).
