Enterprise Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Electrical Systems serves as the technical authority for electrical infrastructure training within the Data Center Critical Facilities Engineering Training Center of Excellence. This role is responsible for developing, standardizing, and delivering enterprise-level technical training for personnel across a global data center portfolio. The position involves partnering with Instructional Designers to create curriculum, qualification standards, and learning materials while providing hands-on instruction on electrical distribution equipment and operational scenarios. Key responsibilities include managing training for utility service entrance equipment, medium and low voltage distribution systems, switchgear, power transformers, protective relays, busway systems, and automatic transfer switches. The role addresses the critical need for workforce development in mission-critical environments by ensuring technical accuracy in training content related to electrical switching procedures, troubleshooting, fault response, and preventive maintenance practices across various infrastructure types.
Serve as the primary technical authority for electrical infrastructure training across the global data center portfolio.
Establish and maintain enterprise standards, qualification requirements, and curriculum for critical electrical systems.
Deliver instructor-led classroom and field-based training to personnel on distribution equipment and operational scenarios.
Partner with Instructional Designers to create technical courses, assessment tools, and practical performance evaluations.
Validate the technical accuracy of all electrical training content based on current technologies and industry best practices.
Support commissioning, startup, and operational readiness activities for new data center campuses.
Identify knowledge gaps and evaluate training effectiveness through learner performance and operational feedback.
Maintain expert knowledge of high/medium voltage systems, switching procedures, and protective relaying.
What we're looking for
Must have 6 to 10+ years of experience in the relevant field.
Must have extensive experience operating and maintaining mission-critical electrical infrastructure in hyperscale, enterprise, utility, or industrial environments.
Must demonstrate expertise in medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems supporting critical facilities.
Must have experience performing or overseeing electrical switching operations in mission-critical environments.
Must have experience developing or delivering technical training for adult learners.
Must possess strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills to translate complex concepts into practical training.
Must be willing and able to travel frequently to data center campuses.
