Data Center MEP Senior Estimator
The Data Center MEP Senior Estimator joins the Global Program Controls organization to support hyperscale data center development, colocation build-outs, and infrastructure delivery. This senior individual-contributor role involves end-to-end responsibility for conceptual, budgetary, and detailed estimates across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, process, fire protection, controls, and low-voltage systems. The primary responsibilities include developing cost models using parametric metrics, performing quantity-based and labor-hour calculations, and reconciling quotes from contractors and colocation providers to a common cost breakdown structure. The role requires translating design maturity and market conditions into defensible budgets while leading negotiations with vendors. Key skills include expertise in cooling distribution, power systems, and fire protection, alongside the ability to manage risk, evaluate change orders, and provide executive-level reporting on cost drivers for mission-critical infrastructure projects across various regions.
Develop conceptual, budgetary, and detailed MEP estimates for complex data center projects using various modeling techniques.
Create and maintain quantity-based, labor-hour, and parametric cost models to ensure transparency in cost drivers.
Map all project estimates to the approved Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
Review, normalize, and validate pricing submitted by colocation providers, contractors, and third-party consultants.
Lead cost reconciliation and negotiation meetings to establish agreed pricing positions with external partners.
Evaluate change orders and design changes to quantify cost exposure and negotiate fair outcomes.
Present clear cost recommendations, risk assessments, and executive reports to senior leadership and finance teams.
Standardize estimating methods and manage the quality of deliverables from third-party quantity surveying firms.
What we're looking for
Experience in estimating mechanical, electrical, plumbing, process, fire protection, and low-voltage systems for mission-critical data center projects.
Ability to develop conceptual, budgetary, and detailed estimates using parametric metrics, historical actuals, and regional market data.
Proficiency in building quantity-based, labor-hour, productivity-based, and should-cost models.
Experience mapping estimates to approved cost breakdown structures (CBS) and work breakdown structures (WBS).
Ability to lead cost reconciliation and negotiation meetings with contractors and colocation providers.
Skill in evaluating change orders, scope transfers, and design changes to quantify cost exposure.
Ability to prepare Basis of Estimate documentation including risk, contingency, and escalation.
Experience preparing executive cost reports and translating technical details into concise recommendations for senior leadership.
