Director, Data Center Building Automation will define and govern the automation strategy for a global data center portfolio. This role involves setting standards and long-term direction for building management systems, OT controls architecture, cybersecurity, alarming, integration practices, and analytics to ensure safe, efficient, and scalable operations. The position requires leading managers, senior engineers, and vendor partners while overseeing design, commissioning, and operational handoff of automation initiatives across new sites and retrofits. Key responsibilities include establishing OT network standards, managing multi-vendor environments, and driving adoption of smart building technologies and digital-twin capabilities. Required expertise includes BMS, SCADA, PLC, HMI, and industrial networking. Establish technical requirements for OT controls architecture, alarm philosophy, network standards, and multi-vendor integration.
Oversee the design, commissioning, and operational handoff of automation initiatives across new sites and retrofit programs.
Establish cybersecurity governance and requirements for OT systems in partnership with IT and security teams.
Drive adoption of smart building technologies, advanced analytics, and digital-twin capabilities to improve operational efficiency.
Manage vendor relationships and performance expectations for automation partners, system integrators, and platform providers.
Lead and develop a technical team of managers and engineers within the automation organization.
Influence portfolio planning and capital prioritization by identifying risks and modernization opportunities.
What we're looking for
10+ years of experience in controls engineering, building automation, industrial automation, OT systems, or mission-critical facility automation leadership.
5+ years of experience leading managers, engineering teams, or large-scale technical programs across multiple sites or regions.
Deep knowledge of BMS, SCADA, DCS, PLC, HMI, and multi-vendor controls environments.
Experience in data center operations is strongly preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, Computer, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field (preferred).
Expertise in industrial networking, OT cybersecurity, alarming strategy, and large-scale automation integration (preferred).
Familiarity with platforms such as Schneider Electric, Siemens, Rockwell, Ignition, Niagara, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, or Cisco (preferred).
Relevant certifications in BMS/controls platforms, industrial networking, or OT cybersecurity are a plus.
