The Director, Data Center Building Automation leads the automation strategy for the global data center portfolio. This leadership role involves governing building management systems, OT controls architecture, cybersecurity, and analytics to ensure safe, efficient, and scalable operations. You will manage managers and senior engineers to oversee the design, integration, and commissioning of automation initiatives across new sites and retrofits. Key responsibilities include establishing OT network standards, alarm philosophies, and cybersecurity governance. The role requires deep expertise in BMS, SCADA, PLC, HMI, and DCS within multi-vendor environments including Schneider Electric, Siemens, Rockwell, Ignition, Niagara, Johnson Controls, and Honeywell. You will also utilize Cisco industrial networking and frameworks like IEC 62443 or NIST 800-82 to manage critical facility systems like mechanical cooling and electrical infrastructure.
Define and govern the automation strategy for the global data center portfolio.
Establish standards for BMS, DCIM, OT controls, and multi-vendor integration requirements.
Oversee the design, commissioning, and operational handoff of automation initiatives for new and existing sites.
Set cybersecurity requirements and governance for OT systems in partnership with IT and security teams.
Drive the adoption of smart building technologies, advanced analytics, and digital-twin capabilities.
Lead vendor strategy for automation partners, system integrators, and platform providers.
Manage and develop technical leadership within the automation organization, including managers and senior engineers.
Influence portfolio planning and capital prioritization by identifying automation risks and modernization opportunities.
What we're looking for
Must have 10+ years of experience in controls engineering, building automation, industrial automation, OT systems, or mission-critical facility automation leadership.
Must have 5+ years of experience leading managers, engineering teams, or large-scale technical programs across multiple sites or regions.
Must possess deep knowledge of BMS, SCADA, DCS, PLC, HMI, OT infrastructure, and multi-vendor controls environments.
Must have experience setting technical standards and governing execution across design, commissioning, operations, and vendor ecosystems.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, Computer, or Systems Engineering is preferred.
Deep expertise in industrial networking, OT cybersecurity, and large-scale automation integration is preferred.
Relevant certifications in BMS, industrial networking, OT cybersecurity, or automation leadership are a plus.
