As a CPU Implementation Engineer, you will work extensively with micro-architects to define micro-architecture and perform design feasibility while managing power, performance, and area trade-offs. You will drive RTL-to-GDS design convergence through logic optimizations using synthesis and place-and-route tools to meet ambitious PPA goals. Your daily responsibilities include designing block-level delivery, closing backend flows, meeting electrical requirements, and improving silicon yield. You will collaborate with CAD and PD methodology teams on tool features, while coordinating with cross-functional teams on floorplan, timing, power, reliability, and testability. Additionally, you will co-optimize memory macros and library standard cells with custom IP teams. Key technical skills include implementing structured data-path designs, performing Static Timing Analysis for multi-GHz designs, executing ECO methodologies to resolve noise or EMIR problems, and managing physical design verification flows to ensure zero LVS and DRC violations.
Define micro-architecture and perform PPA trade-offs with micro-architects to meet design goals.
Drive RTL-to-GDS convergence through synthesis and place-and-route tool optimizations.
Implement structured data-path designs while maintaining logic equivalence and performing power intent validation.
Generate comprehensive timing constraints for multi-GHz designs to ensure high closure success rates.
Execute floor-planning strategies including macro positioning and power grid distribution for IR drop closure.
Apply advanced place-and-route techniques to resolve timing, area density, and power issues on critical paths.
Develop and execute ECO methodologies to resolve timing violations, noise issues, and EMIR problems.
Manage physical design verification flows to ensure zero LVS and DRC violations.
What we're looking for
Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
At least 2 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Experience analyzing and figuring out trade-offs for CPU micro-architectural features across performance, area, timing, power, and complexity metrics.
Experience implementing structured data-path designs using industry-standard synthesis flows while maintaining logic equivalence and performing power intent validation.
Experience generating comprehensive timing constraints for synthesis, PnR, and STA tools supporting multi-GHz designs.
Experience executing floor-planning strategies including hierarchical pin placement, macro positioning, and power grid distribution to achieve IR drop closure.
Experience applying advanced place-and-route techniques to achieve timing closure on critical paths while meeting area density targets.
Experience developing and executing ECO methodologies to resolve timing violations, noise issues, and EMIR problems.
