The Platform Engineer III role is part of the Edge ecosystem team in Global Technology Infrastructure & Operations. The role reports to the Director, Edge Platform Engineering and will play a critical role in building and maintaining the Edge computing platform that powers our global restaurant technology ecosystem. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to design, implement, and support scalable, secure, and resilient Edge platform solutions. You will support the Digital, Data, Engineering, and Restaurant development teams by delivering a scalable, resilient, and secure platform pipelines and capabilities.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced technology leader to help craft the transformation of infrastructure and operations products and services to the entire McDonalds environment.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, release and maintain edge platforms and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with platform architects, engineers and suppliers to implement scalable and modular, fault tolerant edge platform deployments.
  • Optimize edge platform and underlying infrastructure for performance, reliability, and security
  • Implement strategies for failover, disaster recovery, and zero-touch provisioning at the edge.
  • Partner on hardware sizing and provisioning of system resources for edge workloads.
  • Implement and manage virtualization and/or containerized environments for edge deployments
  • Implement and manage data replication, backup, and disaster recovery strategies for edge environments.
  • Design, build and implement orchestration framework for managing VM based and containerized workloads across edge clusters.
  • Integrate Edge platform tools with GCP for hybrid workload deployments.
  • Develop CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code templates for edge environments.
  • Build reusable automation frameworks to streamline deployment and configuration.
  • Enable self-service adoption of edge platform standards across cross-functional teams.
  • Evaluate emerging edge technologies, conduct PoCs, and drive technical feasibility studies.
  • Stay current on advancements in edge computing, distributed systems, and observability.
  • Maintain documentation for edge platform designs, configurations and deployment processes
  • Participate in platform reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years in platform engineering or similar discipline, with 3+ years focused on edge computing or on-prem cloud.
  • 5+ years working with Cloud technologies with good knowledge of IaaS and PaaS offerings in GCP & AWS.
  • Hands-on expertise with Kubernetes, Docker, and orchestration in edge or cloud environments
  • Familiarity with edge hardware infrastructure (servers, IoT devices) and performance tuning.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware ESXi, KVM, Hyper-V) and hyperconverged infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of software-defined storage systems (e.g., Ceph, Robin.io) and strategies for data replication, backup, and disaster recovery in edge environments.
  • Proficiency in programming languages: Go, Python, Rust, PowerShell.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) and automation frameworks.
  • Familiarity with observability tools (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger).
  • Solid understanding of networking protocols, security best practices, and system performance tuning.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and hybrid edge-cloud architectures.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD, Helm) as supporting skills.

The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) – Edge Platform is a key member of the Edge Operations and SRE team within Global Technology Infrastructure & Operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and operational excellence of the Edge computing platform that supports McDonald’s global restaurant technology ecosystem.

You will work closely with Architecture, Platform Engineering, Security teams to implement observability, automation, and incident response strategies that ensure the Edge platform is resilient and maintainable. This is a unique opportunity to influence the operational maturity of a global platform and drive continuous improvement across infrastructure and services.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain Edge platform infrastructure to ensure 24x7x365 availability, reliability, and performance.
  • Design and implement observability frameworks using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, and Datadog.
  • Collaborate with Platform Engineering and Edge Solution Delivery teams to ensure platform features are operable, maintainable, and supportable in production environments.
  • Develop and maintain runbooks, playbooks, and automation scripts to streamline operations and reduce manual effort.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience supporting Edge computing or hybrid cloud environments.
  • Strong expertise in observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, Datadog, ELK).
  • Experience with container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, GKE) and virtualization technologies.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell).

Lead worldwide M365 collaboration ecosystem strategy alongside the End User Computing team at McDonald's! The team’s scope extends across SharePoint, Teams, Power BI/Platform, and Microsoft Copilot. You will drive modernization, reliability, and security of our collaboration stack while delivering seamless user experiences at enterprise scale!

This position reports to the Senior Manager, Collaboration Solutions. It's a great chance for an experienced tech leader to improve teamwork services globally at McDonald’s.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Lead the product delivery roadmap for enterprise messaging and collaboration services. Working primarily with Exchange but helping with SharePoint, Teams, Copilot, Power Platform, and key third-party integrations.
  • Lead engineering and operational excellence for Exchange Online, and associated messaging security (DKIM, DMARC, SPF).
  • Architect and govern SMTP and application mail services, ensuring global compliance, performance, and reliability.
  • Partner with internal teams and external vendors to align roadmaps, handle dependencies, and ensure successful global deployments.
  • Drive Exchange/Outlook service improvements and support broader M365 collaboration adoption and governance.
  • Collaborate with managed service providers to maintain SLA performance, resolve incidents, and handle changes effectively.

We are seeking a highly capable Data Platform Engineer to help design, build, and deliver a modern GCP-based data and analytics platform across data integration, core platform services, and analytics consumption layers. This role focuses on engineering execution, platform solution design, and hands-on delivery of scalable data pipelines and platform capabilities that enable analytics, machine learning, and AI-driven workloads. The ideal candidate has strong technical depth in GCP data services, practical experience in multi-cloud environments, and the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, architecture, and data product teams.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Data Platform Solutions

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and cost-effective GCP-based data platform components.
  • Build and enhance data pipelines, ingestion frameworks, and platform services used across analytics and data product teams.

We are seeking a highly capable Data Platform Engineer to help design, build, and deliver a modern GCP-based data and analytics platform across data integration, core platform services, and analytics consumption layers. This role focuses on engineering execution, platform solution design, and hands-on delivery of scalable data pipelines and platform capabilities that enable analytics, machine learning, and AI-driven workloads. Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Deliver Data Platform Solutions
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and cost-effective GCP-based data platform components.
  • Build and improve data pipelines, ingestion frameworks, and platform services used across analytics and data product teams.
  • Support AI-Ready Platform Capabilities

  • Proven experience implementing modern cloud-based data platform components supporting analytical and/or AI workloads.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT, event streaming, and real-time processing frameworks (e.g., dbt, Kafka, Dataflow, Pub/Sub).

The Opportunity 
We are looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer with strong technical expertise to design, build, and deploy scalable ML/AI solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for developing robust machine learning pipelines, optimizing model performance, and contributing to the design of ML/AI products that drive real business impact. Solid understanding of ML concepts including feature engineering, model selection, hyperparameter tuning, and evaluation metrics.

Experience building production-grade ML systems, including model serving and monitoring.
