Senior Software Development Engineer 5

What you'll do

• Design and develop resilient, highly available, and scalable distributed services.
• Drive architectural direction for capabilities that cross multiple service boundaries.
• Own feature development from initial inception through production rollout and postmortems.
• Profile production systems to identify performance bottlenecks and drive optimizations.
• Evaluate and incorporate innovative technologies and AI tools to improve engineering efficiency.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of internal engineering processes.
• Manage high-throughput, low-latency systems using Java or Scala.

What we're looking for

• B.S. in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience, is required.
• M.S. or equivalent practical depth is preferred.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience building highly maintainable, scalable systems with Scala/Java or comparable, strongly typed languages.
• Deep proficiency in Java or Scala, including JVM memory management, GC tuning, thread scheduling, and allocation patterns.
• Proven ability to reason about system performance at scale, including profiling production systems and driving optimizations.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to multi-task across different projects.
• Experience developing backend distributed applications on Java/JVM and Spring (or similar framework) (preferred).
• Shown experience using structured, focused approaches to solving technical, data, and logical problems (preferred).
