Search tips

FindRole has two different kinds of search, and the tips are almost opposites. Browse Jobs is a fast, literal title filter. AI Match is the meaning-aware one. Use the right tool and both work well.

Browse Jobs: keep the query short

The Browse Jobs search box matches your words against the job title, and every word has to appear. Short, common queries work best:

  • backend engineer
  • data scientist
  • security engineer
  • python

Each extra word narrows the results, so a long phrase like senior backend engineer python distributed systems matches nothing — no single job title contains all six words. If you get an empty page, remove words rather than adding them.

Two more things worth knowing:

  • Skip punctuation. A comma is treated as part of the word, so data scientist, nlp looks for a title containing scientist,.
  • The search box only reads the title. To narrow by anything else, use the filters next to it.

Location, workplace, salary floor and post age are filters — typing them into the search box will just fail to match a title:

  • Location accepts a city, a state, or remote.
  • Workplace splits remote, hybrid, and on-site.
  • Min salary and posted within trim the rest.

On the Map you can pan and zoom to see the same roles by location.

Browse Jobs can't help you when you don't know the exact job title — and titles vary wildly between employers. That's what AI Match is for. It runs hybrid search (learned-sparse retrieval plus dense embeddings, then a cross-encoder rerank) over the full job description, so it finds roles that fit the work you describe even when the title doesn't match your words.
