The impact you’ll make
As a Software Engineer at Lam, you will play a critical role across the full software development lifecycle, applying your depth of technical expertise to design, develop, and sustain high quality software solutions. You will help shape and deliver Big Data and Enterprise Analytics platforms that support Lam’s products, infrastructure, and technology roadmap. In this role, you will collaborate closely with product and technical leads defining software requirements and scope, translating business needs into robust, scalable solutions. You will design, develop, and maintain applications and support infrastructure, delivering high performance, reliable, and maintainable software. You will do this while working within Lam’s centralized software engineering team, collaborating with some of the brightest minds in the industry.
What you’ll do
- Design, build, and maintain software applications that support Big Data and Enterprise Analytics solutions.
- Implement new features and enhancements in existing applications and services with a focus on reliability, maintainability, and operational excellence.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues across the stack, performing root-cause analysis and driving fixes to completion.
- Improve system performance through profiling, optimization, and effective use of concurrency and data-access patterns.
- Produce clear technical documentation and artifacts (design notes, flow diagrams, runbooks) to support development and ongoing operations.
- Collaborate with engineering teams through code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement to deliver high-quality software.
Who we’re looking for
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related field) with 2+ years of experience; or advanced degree with no previous professional experience; or equivalent experience.
- Experience with Java, SpringBoot, Python and Flask.
- Experience with RESTful APIs, API standards and best practices.
- Excellent knowledge of object-oriented software design and implementation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly, and master diverse technologies and techniques.
Preferred qualifications
- Familiarity with CI/CD and software development lifecycle tooling (e.g., BitBucket, Jira, Confluence, Maven, Jenkins, Artifactory).
- Experience working in Agile Scrum teams, contributing to sprint planning, execution, and continuous improvement.
- Solid understanding of computer system architecture fundamentals (processes, memory, storage, networking) and their impact on large-scale data processing.
- Experience with HBase and Phoenix is a plus.
- Experience in the semiconductor equipment manufacturing industry is a plus.

Salary
CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $86,000.00 - $183,000.00.
The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.

Mechanical Engineer Manager

You’ll be joining the WETS Product Group, a highly collaborative, cross‑disciplinary organization within Lam’s Global Products Group (GPG), focused on delivering industry‑leading wet processing solutions for advanced semiconductor manufacturing. The WETS organization develops liquid‑based process equipment supporting both wafer and panel‑level applications, with strong emphasis on new product introduction (NPI), technology differentiation, and manufacturing scalability.
Our teams work closely across mechanical, electrical, controls, software, systems, and process engineering—partnering globally to bring complex, high‑performance tools from concept through production while meeting aggressive cost, schedule, and quality targets.

The impact you’ll make
As a Mechanical Engineering Manager – New Product Development (NPI) in the WETS Product Group, you will play a critical leadership role in delivering next‑generation wet processing tools from early concept through production release. Your work will directly impact product performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability—enabling Lam to meet customer commitments and maintain technology leadership in advanced semiconductor manufacturing.
In this role, you will lead and develop a team of mechanical engineers responsible for designing complex subsystems and assemblies, while partnering closely with Systems, Process, Electrical, Controls, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Program Management. You will balance technical depth with execution rigor, ensuring mechanical designs meet requirements, integrate cleanly at the system level, and are delivered on time through the NPI lifecycle.
This is a high‑visibility role where your technical leadership, people development, and execution discipline will materially influence program success and team capability.
What you’ll do
Lead Mechanical NPI Execution
- Lead mechanical engineering execution for one or more NPI programs, from concept and architecture through qualification, release, and production ramp.
- Own mechanical deliverables across all NPI phase gates (Pre‑DR, DDR, CDR, FDR), ensuring scope, quality, and schedule commitments are met.
- Drive strong technical decision‑making, risk management, and trade‑off analysis throughout development.
Manage and Develop Engineering Talent
- Directly manage, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical engineers, fostering technical excellence, accountability, and growth.
- Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and support career development aligned with Lam engineering standards.
- Build team capability in areas such as DFx, tolerance management, reliability, and system integration.
Own Mechanical Design Quality and Integration
- Ensure mechanical designs meet functional, performance, reliability, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Review and approve mechanical architectures, layouts, drawings, and BOM structures.
- Partner with Systems Engineering to ensure clean subsystem interfaces, proper margin allocation, and successful system‑level integration.
Drive DFx, Cost, and Manufacturability
- Ensure designs meet DFx objectives including reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, safety, and cost.
- Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations to enable smooth transition from development to production.
- Drive cost reduction, part standardization, and supply‑chain robustness without compromising performance.
Cross‑Functional Leadership
- Collaborate closely with Program Management, Product Management, Systems, Process, Electrical, Controls, and Software teams.
- Communicate technical status, risks, and mitigation plans clearly to stakeholders and leadership.
- Influence across disciplines and organizations to drive alignment and execution, often without direct authority.
Risk Management and Validation
- Own or support mechanical FMEAs, risk assessments, and corrective action plans.
- Ensure appropriate mechanical validation, qualification, and failure analysis are executed and documented.
- Support system‑level debug, integration, and field issue resolution as required.

- Demonstrated experience leading mechanical design through NPI phase gates.
- Experience managing engineers and delivering results through cross‑functional teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to prioritize, manage risk, and execute in a high‑accountability environment.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with semiconductor manufacturing equipment, particularly wet processing or fluid‑intensive systems.
- Strong understanding of DFMEA, tolerance analysis, thermal‑mechanical design, and reliability engineering.
- Experience supporting production ramp, sustaining engineering, and field issue resolution.
- Familiarity with Lam NPI processes, EPLs, and phase‑gate development models.
- Experience mentoring senior engineers and building high‑performing technical teams.
- Exposure to cost modeling, supplier engagement, and global manufacturing environments.

This position is part of Lam’s Global Products Group (GPG) within the Wet Equipment Technology Systems (WETs) organization, where we design and deliver industry‑leading wet processing tools for advanced semiconductor manufacturing.

The impact you’ll make
As a Systems Engineer IV , you will serve as the Lead Systems Engineer for a next‑generation semiconductor manufacturing tool. You will join the program early in its lifecycle and play a critical role in defining the system architecture, requirements, and integration strategy that guide the design from concept through production.
In this highly visible role, you will act as the system‑level technical owner and integrator, working across mechanical, electrical, software, controls, mechatronics, and process engineering teams. Your work will directly reduce integration risk, accelerate development, and ensure delivery of a robust, scalable, and manufacturable product to our customers.
What you’ll do
Lead System‑Level Technical Execution
- Serve as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for system‑level technical coordination across Software, Electrical Engineering, Controls, Mechatronics, Mechanical, and Process disciplines.
- Provide system‑level technical direction, ensuring alignment across teams and proactively identifying gaps, risks, and integration issues.
- Influence and lead without formal authority, driving closure of cross‑functional technical actions and decisions.
- Partner closely with Program Management, Product Management, and Technical Owners to balance scope, cost, schedule, and performance.
Own System Design and Architecture
- Own the top‑level system specification and architecture, ensuring alignment with product requirements, customer needs, and stakeholder expectations.
- Define the system from concept through production readiness, including problem statements, system needs, stakeholder and use‑case analysis, system boundaries, functional allocation, and lifecycle considerations.
- Decompose the system into functional subsystems with clear Subsystem Functional Specifications, defined interfaces, and allocated error budgets and design margins.
- Maintain accountability for the system P&ID, interconnect definitions, and signal lists (port maps).
- Review and approve Interface Control Documents (ICDs) between key subsystems.
Drive Documentation, Validation, and Quality
- Own and author the System Theory of Operation, describing how the system functions as an integrated whole.
- Guide and consult on the development of functional specifications, high‑level BOM structures, and engineering documentation supporting product requirements and options.
- Be accountable for system‑level validation and test reports.
- Consult on Certificates of Analysis (COA), Lam Quality Data (LQD) specifications, and identification of Critical Value parts for key POR sub‑tasks.
Ensure Robust Testing and Risk Management
- Consult in the development of subsystem‑level test plans and own validation of system‑level test plans.
- Review and approve test results against system and subsystem requirements.
- Ensure designs meet DFx criteria (reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, safety, and cost) across the full product lifecycle.
- Own and approve Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) at the system level.
- Drive early identification and mitigation of integration, reliability, and performance risks.
