Technical Services Engineer - Weekend Shift
As a Technical Services Engineer, you will join the team to provide expert guidance and solve complex problems for customers across the entire MongoDB ecosystem, including database servers, drivers, cloud infrastructure, Atlas, and Cloud Manager. You will work directly with large customers to resolve issues regarding architecture, performance, recovery, and security while advocating for their needs to product teams. Your daily responsibilities include contributing to internal projects like software development for performance benchmarking and mentoring new team members. The role requires expertise in systems engineering, Linux performance, networking protocols like DNS and TCP/IP, and storage technologies such as NAS and SAN. You must be able to read code and possess scripting skills in languages like Python, Java, or Go to troubleshoot issues from the application tier down to the storage level.
Resolve complex customer issues regarding architecture, performance, recovery, and security within the MongoDB ecosystem.
Provide expert technical advice on running MongoDB at scale across various infrastructure environments.
Advocate for customer needs by collaborating with product management and development teams.
Develop internal software tools for performance benchmarking, diagnostics, and support operations.
Mentor and onboard new team members to build internal knowledge of product lines.
Analyze technical issues holistically from the application tier down to the storage layer.
What we're looking for
Must be a US Citizen.
Experience in systems engineering including Linux performance, memory management, I/O tuning, configuration, security, networking, clusters, and troubleshooting.
Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols such as DNS, TCP/IP, and SSL/TLS.
Storage engineering experience including NAS, SAN, SSD, multi-pathing, and caching.
Experience building and maintaining complex mission-critical production database systems.
Ability to read code and basic coding or scripting skills in languages like Java, Python, Ruby, C, C++, C#, Javascript, Node.js, or Go.
Experience managing large scale databases (e.g., RDBMS, NoSQL) (preferred).
Experience with authentication systems (LDAP, Kerberos, AD), MongoDB, Git, cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP), or Kubernetes (preferred).
