TL;DR · Systems Engineering Director, CRM

Systems Engineering Director - CRM leads a specialized team within the Electrophysiology Technologies business unit to advance innovative solutions for cardiac rhythm disorders. This leadership role involves managing a team of ten to twenty engineers while shaping product-platform strategy, maturing system architecture, and accelerating the adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices. The daily responsibilities include overseeing functional strategy across early concept generation, systems architecture, and AI fluency while ensuring cross-program consistency in firmware, software interfaces, and data requirements. Key technical focuses include Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), digital engineering workflows, and knowledge management to ensure scalable, high-quality designs for medical devices. The role addresses the challenge of balancing immediate program execution with long-range platform thinking to support future product applicability within a highly regulated healthcare environment, ensuring that innovations are designed for reuse and seamless integration across various cardiac therapies.

What you'll do

  • Lead a team of 10 to 20 engineers and managers to achieve systems engineering objectives and organizational maturity.
  • Develop and mentor a talent pipeline through risk-informed feedback to improve execution quality and reduce technical uncertainty.
  • Align Systems priorities with business goals, product roadmaps, and patient needs by influencing R&D and program leaders.
  • Define and manage the roadmap for "Balanced Innovation" to ensure designs are scalable and suitable for future platform extensions.
  • Drive cross-program consistency for user interfaces, firmware/software interfaces, and other critical architecture patterns.
  • Integrate AI-enabled engineering practices into workflows to improve speed, quality, and decision support in systems development.
  • Promote Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) as a primary framework for requirements, design, testing, and knowledge management.
  • Establish mechanisms for capturing intellectual property, technical rationale, and reusable patterns across the organization.

What we're looking for

  • A Bachelor's degree is required, or an advanced degree with at least 8 years of systems engineering experience in a regulated industry.
  • At least 10 years of systems engineering experience in the medical device or another highly regulated industry is required for those with a Bachelor's degree.
  • At least 7 years of managerial experience is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of medical device product development, quality expectations, and compliance considerations (preferred).
  • Experience across the full Systems Engineering lifecycle from concept through validation, launch, and post-market learning (preferred).
  • Experience as a systems architect, lead systems engineer, chief engineer, or equivalent technical leadership role (preferred).
  • Experience with CRM/CAS products, cardiac rhythm/EP technology domains, or related clinical applications (preferred).
  • Work authorization at the time of hire and for the duration of employment.
