Support Engineer - TBS lab operations works within the Engineering Services Group to operate and maintain the Boulder TBS Consolidated Lab. This role is critical for supporting wireless technology development programs, including 6G initiatives. The engineer manages day-to-day lab operations by monitoring station health, performing issue triage, managing quarantine activities, and conducting recovery actions. Key responsibilities include deploying and configuring hardware and software, performing RF performance analysis, and managing UE calibration and device readiness. The role requires proficiency with specific tools such as Custom Scheduler, AXIOM, and Fleet Manager, alongside experience in Linux and Windows environments. Candidates must possess strong analytical skills to troubleshoot network connectivity issues and perform root cause investigations. This position ensures a reliable test environment by providing infrastructure support and generating operational reports to monitor station utilization and reliability for engineering teams.
Monitor and maintain TBS station health by proactively identifying and resolving operational issues.
Perform day-to-day lab operations including troubleshooting, quarantine management, and recovery activities.
Deploy, configure, and upgrade TBS stations, devices, and supporting infrastructure.
Support specialized tools and systems such as Custom Scheduler, AXIOM, and Fleet Manager.
Conduct RF performance analysis, test failure triage, and basic root cause investigations.
Manage UE calibration activities, device readiness, and station resource availability.
Generate operational reports and analytics to monitor station utilization and reliability.
Document issues, solutions, and procedures to improve team efficiency and knowledge sharing.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of Support Engineering or related work experience, OR Associate's degree and 3+ years, OR High School Diploma and 4+ years.
Advanced degrees in a relevant field may be substituted for up to two years of work experience.
Experience with wireless test systems, lab operations, or infrastructure support (preferred).
Knowledge of network concepts and experience debugging network connectivity issues in a lab (preferred).
Familiarity with RF concepts, Linux and Windows environments, and troubleshooting complex technical issues (preferred).
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills (preferred).
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across diverse engineering teams (preferred).
Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. and perform physical tasks including bending, squatting, and standing for long periods.
