The Support Engineer joins the Engineering Services Group to provide end-to-end support for a fast-paced SoC post-silicon validation lab. This role combines mechanical and electro-mechanical design with hands-on lab operations to solve hardware problems in the silicon testing and characterization space. You will design, build, and maintain fixtures, handler tooling, board supports, and rack solutions while managing laboratory infrastructure such as thermal equipment, power systems, and automated handlers. Key responsibilities include creating 3D CAD models using tools like Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, or Inventor to develop prototype hardware from 3D-printed or CNC-machined components. You will also troubleshoot validation platforms, manage inventory, and coordinate with machine shops and vendors. The role requires expertise in mechanical assembly, fabrication methods, and technical documentation to ensure operational robustness and safety within the lab environment.
Design, model, and manufacture mechanical fixtures, adapters, and lab hardware using CAD tools like Creo or SolidWorks.
Build and assemble prototype hardware using 3D printing, CNC machining, laser cutting, and sheet metal components.
Troubleshoot and maintain post-silicon validation platforms including development boards, thermal equipment, and power systems.
Manage automated test handlers by preparing changeover kits and resolving mechanical or electrical issues.
Coordinate with machine shops and vendors to manage fabrication, parts procurement, and inventory tracking.
Create technical documentation including assembly instructions, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and maintenance records.
Improve lab operations by optimizing cable management, space utilization, and equipment safety protocols.
What we're looking for
A high school diploma with 4+ years of experience, an associate degree with 3+ years of experience, or a bachelor's degree with 2+ years of experience in engineering support or related fields.
Five or more years of relevant experience in engineering support, validation, laboratory operations, mechanical assembly, manufacturing, or equipment maintenance.
Hands-on experience assembling, installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining physical hardware and lab equipment.
