Staff Fuel Systems Engineer, Omen joins the Omen team to develop a hover-to-cruise autonomous air vehicle. Required skills include expertise in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and CAD software like NX. Own the design, development, and qualification of fuel, hydraulic, thermal management, environmental control, and pneumatic systems for autonomous aircraft.
Lead technical efforts to define system requirements, develop architectures, and conduct trade studies for fluids systems.
Perform system-level analyses including pressure drop, flow distribution, thermal balance, and CFD to support design decisions.
Specify, source, and qualify hardware components such as pumps, valves, actuators, heat exchangers, and tanks.
Conduct hands-on rig and aircraft-level testing to validate performance across the flight envelope.
Design fuel system architectures specifically for tail-sitter operations, including center-of-gravity management and multi-attitude characterization.
Manage thermal loads for propulsion, avionics, and payloads during hover, transition, and cruise conditions.
Develop hardware test plans and lead design reviews to ensure systems integrate with other vehicle subsystems.
What we're looking for
A minimum of 8 years in a professional engineering role focused on aircraft or aerospace fluids systems.
BS or MS in mechanical, aerospace, or chemical engineering, or equivalent work experience.
Strong knowledge of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and the design/testing of aircraft fluids systems.
Hands-on experience designing, building, and testing hardware including component selection and plumbing routing.
Proficiency in CAD software for plumbing and complex system installations, preferably NX.
Proficiency with system-level fluids analysis tools such as Flowmaster, AFT Fathom, GT-SUITE, or Simulink.
Working knowledge of airworthiness and aerospace standards like SAE AS, MIL-STD, and AS9100.
Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. security clearance.
