Staff Mechanical Engineer

What you'll do

• Own the mechanical design of new air vehicles from initial concept through low-rate production.
• Lead technical efforts to define requirements and establish methodologies for evaluating and verifying mechanical systems.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated electrical, software, and mechanical systems are reliable and cost-effective.
• Spearhead design reviews, conduct analyses, visit vendors, and implement hardware test plans.
• Balance subsystem requirements while optimizing for development speed, mass, manufacturability, and cost.
• Develop and improve internal team tools, templates, processes, and engineering standards.
• Support critical hardware demonstrations with customers at various locations as needed.

What we're looking for

• BS or MS in mechanical engineering, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 12+ years in a technical engineering role in a professional setting.
• Experience in an immersive technical project such as collegiate project teams or professional settings.
• Strong knowledge of core engineering principles, composite materials, design, analysis, testing, and fabrication.
• Deep understanding of load paths, design practices, and hand calculations for robust structurally efficient assemblies.
• Proficiency in CAD software with a specific focus on complex fixturing and tooling design.
• Expertise in high-performance airframe manufacturing including machining, fastening, joining, fuel sealing, and integration.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
