Principal Cyber Systems Engineer

What you'll do

• Decompose and refine customer cybersecurity requirements into technical specifications for system architecture and design.
• Evaluate system designs to identify security risks, analyze attack surfaces, and verify built-in protections.
• Guide the selection and development of security tools and infrastructure for weapon systems.
• Oversee the development of verification efforts to ensure cyber capabilities are functional and complete.
• Ensure weapon system compliance with contractually mandated standards such as CNSSI 1253 and DoD 8570.
• Design cyber systems architecture changes with full traceability to program requirements.
• Perform cyber-attack surface analysis and provide recommendations to mitigate risks in system designs.
• Participate in cybersecurity assessment activities, including security penetration test planning and execution.

What we're looking for

• Must possess an Active Secret clearance and be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
• U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
• Bachelor's degree with 5 years, Master's with 3 years, or PhD with 1 year of experience in related engineering fields; or 9 years of experience without a degree.
• Must be able to obtain an IASAE II certification (CISSP preferred) within six months of hire.
• Experience utilizing NIST 800-160 system security engineering and the system development life cycle.
• Experience supporting RMF assessment authorization artifacts to satisfy NIST SP 800-37 requirements.
• Proficiency in systems engineering activities including requirement decomposition, architecture, design, integration, and verification.
• Knowledge of cyber security practices, network technologies, DoD system development lifecycles, and DevSecOps environments.
