TL;DR · Senior RF Test Systems Development Engineer, Avionics Verification and Test

Sr. RF Test Systems Development Engineer, Avionics Verification and Test, Amazon Leo joins the Avionics Verification & Test team to develop scalable and reliable test automation solutions for satellite vehicles in space. As a Responsible Engineer, you will own the full lifecycle of complex RF test systems for spacecraft avionics and payload sub-systems, including architecture, design, production integration, and post-delivery support. You will decompose verification requirements into testable specifications, build quantitative models for trade studies, and automate processes to meet high-rate manufacturing targets. The role requires expertise in Python, Java, Bash, or Perl, alongside experience with RF measurement equipment such as spectrum analyzers, power meters, and network analyzers. You will solve critical problems regarding space payload LRUs like modems and transceivers while ensuring hardware validation through rigorous design, qualification, and acceptance testing within a high-volume manufacturing environment.

What you'll do

  • Architect, design, and maintain RF test systems for satellite payload and avionics units.
  • Decompose verification requirements into testable specifications and develop comprehensive test procedures.
  • Design and deliver space flight hardware, fixtures, and tooling to optimize production throughput and yield.
  • Build quantitative models for test coverage, reliability, and throughput to inform design trade studies.
  • Automate and optimize test processes to meet high-rate manufacturing goals and first-pass yield targets.
  • Perform root cause analysis on test failures and lead corrective actions for continuous improvement.

What we're looking for

  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or granted asylum/refugee status for export control compliance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience developing and executing test plans for complex aerospace, automotive, or consumer electronics systems.
  • 5+ years of experience designing and integrating test systems for hardware/PCBA validation.
  • 3+ years of experience with development, programming, or scripting in Python, Java, Bash, or Perl.
  • Experience with RF measurement equipment including power meters, spectrum analyzers, vector signal generators, network analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Experience developing and executing test procedures for mechanical or electrical systems based on design intent and approved equipment submissions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across multiple technical disciplines in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Master's degree or higher in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent (preferred).
  • 10+ years hands-on with RF subsystems, PCBAs, or high-speed signal characterization (preferred).
  • Experience with test automation frameworks and modern development practices like CI/CD and source control (preferred).
