The Interdisciplinary RF System Test and Hardware Development Engineer joins the Avionics Verification and Test team to own the full lifecycle of complex RF test systems and hardware development for spacecraft avionics and payload sub-systems. You will architect, design, and sustain test systems for satellite modems, transceivers, BUCs, and LNBs while performing path loss calibration, link budget analysis, and signal chain verification. Daily tasks include BOM-level CAD design for rack layouts and cable harnesses, developing test procedures, and automating processes to meet production yield targets. You will utilize Python, R, Matlab, or STATA alongside RF measurement equipment like spectrum analyzers and vector signal generators. This role solves critical verification challenges for low Earth orbit satellite networks, ensuring reliable hardware performance through rigorous space qualification testing and high-rate manufacturing support.

What you'll do

Architect, design, build, and sustain RF test systems for satellite modems, transceivers, and ground equipment.
Perform RF path loss calibration, link budget analysis, and end-to-end signal chain verification.
Create BOM-level CAD designs including rack layouts, cable harness routing, and mechanical fixture designs.
Decompose verification requirements into testable specifications and develop comprehensive test procedures.
Design and deliver test hardware and tooling to optimize production throughput and fault coverage.
Develop and maintain calibration procedures and measurement uncertainty budgets for RF test stations.
Automate and optimize test processes to meet production rate and first-pass yield targets.
Perform root cause analysis on test failures and lead corrective actions for production systems.

What we're looking for

Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee/asylumee.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent (preferred).
5+ years of experience developing and executing test plans for complex aerospace, automotive, or consumer electronics systems.
5+ years of experience designing and integrating test systems for hardware/PCBA validation.
10+ years of hands-on experience with RF subsystems, PCBAs, or high-speed signal characterization (preferred).
Experience coding in scripting languages such as Python, R, Matlab, or STATA.
Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates.
