Sr. PCBA Manufacturing Test Engineer, Amazon Leo, Electronic Supply Chain joins the PCBA Manufacturing team to manage the deployment, qualification, and continuous improvement of test systems at Contract Manufacturer sites for satellite PCBAs. This role serves as the primary interface between internal test development teams and manufacturing partners, ensuring successful test execution through documented procedures, technician training, and onsite support. Responsibilities include developing test strategies, performing root-cause failure analysis, creating runbooks, and analyzing data to improve test effectiveness and throughput. The ideal candidate possesses expertise in RF functional tests, high power electrical tests, ICT/bed-of-nails fixtures, and Flying Probe testing. Required technical skills include using oscilloscopes and multimeters, Linux scripting, Python, Java, or Visual Basic. The role addresses the critical challenge of ensuring reliable hardware production for low Earth orbit satellite broadband networks.
Develop and optimize test strategies, fixtures, equipment, and maintenance programs at Contract Manufacturer sites.
Perform PCBA debug and root-cause failure analysis to identify hardware and process issues.
Create detailed runbooks, operating procedures, and documentation for manufacturing personnel.
Train Contract Manufacturer technicians and operators on test processes and certification programs.
Analyze data to identify failure trends and provide recommendations for design and test improvements.
Provide feedback to R&D teams regarding test coverage, fault isolation, and Design for Test (DFT) requirements.
Lead small teams to execute short-term objectives and strategic manufacturing initiatives.
What we're looking for
Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or granted asylum/refugee status for export control compliance.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
8+ years of experience deploying, using, and training others on complex test systems including RF functional tests, high power electrical tests, ICT, and Flying Probe.
8+ years of experience integrating software and hardware systems.
8+ years of experience using standard electronic lab test equipment to debug complex PCBAs.
Ability to write detailed test station operating procedures and create deployment/capacity plans for multiple testers at multiple CMs.
Experience with Linux scripting or other coding languages such as Python, Java, or Visual Basic.
Master's degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering (preferred); 10+ years of experience with complex test systems (preferred).
