As a Sr. PCBA Aerospace Manufacturing Test Engineer on the Amazon Leo team, you will manage the deployment, qualification, and continuous improvement of test systems for satellite PCBAs at contract manufacturing sites. You will serve as the primary interface between internal development teams and manufacturing partners, ensuring successful test execution by documenting procedures, training personnel, and performing root-cause failure analysis. Your daily work involves developing test strategies, optimizing hardware and software fixtures, and analyzing data to improve throughput. The role requires expertise in Linux/RHEL, programming languages like Python, Java, C#, or PowerShell, and experience with tools such as LabVIEW and TestStand. You will utilize standard electronic lab equipment to debug complex boards while addressing technical challenges related to high-power electrical tests, RF functional tests, ICT fixtures, and Flying Probe testing for satellite systems.
Develop and optimize test strategies, fixtures, equipment, and maintenance programs at contract manufacturing sites.
Perform PCBA debug and root-cause failure analysis to resolve technical issues on the factory floor.
Create detailed runbooks and operating procedures for test technicians and operators.
Train manufacturing personnel on test processes and recurring certification programs.
Analyze production data to identify failure trends and recommend improvements for hardware and processes.
Provide feedback to R&D teams regarding test coverage, fault isolation, and Design for Test (DFT) recommendations.
Manage small teams to execute short-term objectives and strategic manufacturing initiatives.
What we're looking for
Candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Experience in Linux/RHEL or experience with programming and scripting languages like Batch, VB, PowerShell, Java, C#, Chef, Perl, Ruby, and/or PHP.
8+ years of experience deploying, using, and training others on complex test systems including RF functional tests, high power electrical tests, ICT, and Flying Probe.
8+ years of experience integrating software and hardware systems.
8+ years of experience using standard electronic lab test equipment to debug complex PCBAs.
Ability to write detailed test station operating procedures and create deployment/capacity plans for multiple testers at multiple CMs.
