As a Sr. Payload Integration & Test RF Communications System Engineer, you will join the Amazon Leo team to design and test innovative solutions for a high-bandwidth, low earth orbit communications satellite constellation. Your daily work involves defining test plans for lab environments and on-orbit payloads, analyzing link budgets, and mitigating system interference. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate end-to-end RF systems while managing supplier relationships. The role requires proficiency in Linux/Unix, CI/CD pipelines, and at least one modern programming language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust. You will troubleshoot test failures, perform root-cause analysis, and automate equipment like spectrum analyzers and satellite link emulators.

What you'll do

Verify and validate the entire wireless system including modems, transceivers, and phased-array antennas.
Design and execute test plans for lab environments, RF chambers, and on-orbit payload verification.
Analyze and mitigate potential self-interference and other system interference issues.
Implement, validate, and optimize RF lab setups using antennas and measurement equipment.
Configure test equipment for automated operation including satellite link emulators, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators.
Perform root-cause analysis and troubleshoot technical failures during the testing process.
Analyze RF link budgets and line-ups for both test setups and deployed systems.
Document test results, coverage metrics, and performance data for developers and management.

What we're looking for

Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum.
Experience leading the design, automation, deployment, and support of large-scale infrastructure.
Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust.
Experience with Linux/Unix systems.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes.
Experience with distributed systems at scale (preferred).
