Sr. Manager, Systems Engineering leads a multidisciplinary team of ten to twelve reports supporting the capture, development, integration, verification, production, and sustainment of T&RF products for space and defense missions. The role is responsible for technical planning, requirements decomposition, architecture definition, interface management, and system verification across product lines including secure communications payloads, satellite command and control, mission radio frequency data links, high power amplifiers, and tactical satellite communications terminals. Key responsibilities include driving the adoption of model-based systems engineering and digital engineering methods using SysML-based modeling to improve requirements traceability. The candidate will utilize tools such as Cameo, MagicDraw, Rhapsody, Capella, DOORS, or Jama. This role addresses complex technical challenges in mission radio frequency links, software-defined payloads, and embedded information assurance within highly regulated defense and aerospace environments involving export-controlled or classified programs.
Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary systems engineering team of 10 to 12 direct reports.
Manage system requirements decomposition, architecture definition, interface control, and technical baseline management from capture through production.
Drive the adoption of model-based systems engineering and digital engineering methods using SysML-based modeling.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to achieve cost, schedule, and technical objectives for space and defense missions.
Support customer engagements, design reviews, and proposal activities for Department of Defense and intelligence community opportunities.
Manage team staffing, priorities, budgets, and development plans across multiple programs and R&D efforts.
Ensure all systems engineering artifacts comply with contract requirements and military aerospace standards.
Lead technical trade studies, risk management, and problem resolution for mission radio frequency links and satellite communications.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree with 12 years of experience, Master's with 10 years, or 16 years of experience without a degree.
Active Secret Security Clearance.
Experience leading systems engineering for radio frequency communications, satellite payloads, or complex aerospace and defense systems (preferred).
Knowledge of the systems engineering lifecycle including requirements management, architecture development, and verification (preferred).
Ability to incorporate model-based systems engineering into product development or program execution (preferred).
Advanced degree in a related technical field or prior formal engineering management experience (preferred).
Experience with specific hardware like high power amplifiers, satellite command and control, or software-defined radio frequency payloads (preferred).
