The Software Engineering LMTS joins the Monitoring Cloud team to architect, implement, deliver, and operate monitoring and analytic services within a public cloud environment at massive scale. This role focuses on building the entire telemetry stack, including metrics, logs, traces, and events, to provide critical insights for internal development teams to detect and remediate incidents quickly. You will develop features to enhance observability services, manage service ownership, and automate manual procedures to reduce engineering toil. The technical environment involves server-side Java applications in Linux/UNIX environments, alongside Python, Perl, Ruby, Go, or Scala. Key technologies include Apache Kafka, OpenTSDB, ElasticSearch, Splunk, SQL, NoSQL databases like HBase, and AWS infrastructure. Additional experience with container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes and Docker is valued to support high-availability data management systems.

What you'll do

Design, develop, and deploy features to enhance observability services for internal teams.
Manage service ownership by monitoring systems and taking proactive actions during incidents.
Engage with customers to understand their requirements and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Contribute to the feature roadmap by participating in release planning with leadership.
Automate manual procedures and move code to configuration to reduce engineering toil.
Present work at tech talks, cloud demos, and on engineering blogs to gather feedback.

What we're looking for

B.S./M.S. in Computer Science or an equivalent field.
Experience building highly scalable, available, and real-time data management services.
Experience building server-side Java applications in a Linux/UNIX environment.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Perl, Ruby, Go, or Scala.
Experience with time series DBs, metric collection frameworks, message buses, and data streaming platforms like Kafka, OpenTSDB, ElasticSearch, or Splunk.
Experience using SQL and/or NoSQL databases such as Oracle or HBase.
Good understanding of AWS technologies and operations.
Expertise in data processing techniques (preferred); experience with container orchestration systems like Kubernetes or Docker (preferred).
