As a Software Engineering LMTS on the Core Database Internals team, you will architect, develop, and test the next generation of cloud-native database technologies. You will take end-to-end ownership of mission-critical systems at petabyte scale, focusing on areas such as logging, recovery, distributed lock management, transactions, networking, replication, and high availability. Your daily work involves designing new architectures to solve complex scalability problems, implementing comprehensive functional tests, and performing root cause analysis to ensure system robustness. The role requires deep expertise in distributed computing, including consensus and transactional protocols, alongside a strong grasp of low-level operating system concepts like multi-threading and memory management. You will utilize Java or C programming skills to build highly concurrent, resilient systems within an agile environment to support large-scale infrastructure growth and performance improvements.

What you'll do

What we're looking for

BS or higher degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
MS or PhD in databases or distributed systems is a plus.
6+ years of experience in systems or database internals programming.
6+ years of experience designing, building, and supporting large-scale systems.
Deep expertise in distributed computing including system architecture, communication, consensus, and transactional protocols.
Strong understanding of low-level operating system concepts like multi-threading, memory management, networking, storage, performance, and scale.
Strong programming skills in Java or C.
Strong CS fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
