What you'll do

Build and maintain highly scalable distributed load balancing and gateway services using Envoy and Istio.
Implement next-generation data plane and control plane features to improve service mesh reliability and scalability.
Develop, debug, and operate resilient distributed systems across thousands of compute nodes in multiple data centers.
Manage infrastructure platforms including networking, storage, and observability systems to support internal and external traffic.
Automate cloud infrastructure using tools like Terraform and Spinnaker while following Infrastructure as Code principles.
Participate in an on-call rotation to resolve complex real-time issues and ensure high service availability.
Use telemetry and metrics to drive operational excellence and identify areas for technical debt reduction.
Contribute to open-source projects by enhancing and upstreaming improvements to the Envoy project.

What we're looking for

4+ years of experience with a strong infrastructure background.
Proficiency in Golang, Java, and/or C++ within a Linux/UNIX data center environment.
Expertise in building large-scale distributed systems in public cloud environments like AWS or GCP.
Experience operating large-scale cluster management systems such as Kubernetes for mission-critical services.
Knowledge of network technologies including TCP/IP, DNS, TLS termination, HTTP proxies, and load balancing.
Working knowledge of CI/CD, configuration management, and Infrastructure as Code tools like Spinnaker or Terraform.
Experience with Agile methodologies, Test-Driven Development, and using telemetry to drive operational excellence.
Experience with Istio/Envoy is a huge plus (preferred).
