Software Engineer Complier I joins the Networking Engineering team within the Core Platform Software and Toolchains organization to develop, optimize, and maintain mission-critical compiler, debugger, and code analysis toolchains for networking platforms. The role involves designing and implementing advanced compilation tools, developing runtime diagnostic tools in C and C++, and optimizing LLVM infrastructure for ARM64 and x86 architectures. Key responsibilities include enhancing GDB/LLDB debuggers, building automated regression pipelines using Python and CI/CD tools, integrating DWARF standards, and incorporating AI-assisted developer productivity tools into modern IDE environments. The position addresses complex low-level puzzles to improve software performance and binary resilience. Required skills include proficiency in C or C++, knowledge of memory management, assembly language, and experience with LLVM, Clang, GCC, GNU Binutils, and cross-compiling toolchains for embedded Linux or networking operating systems.

What we're looking for
Meet one of three education/experience paths: Bachelor's degree (0 years experience), Associate's or certification (1 year experience), or High school diploma (2 years experience).
Degree or relevant coursework must be in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Demonstrate programming proficiency in C or C++ with knowledge of memory management, pointer arithmetic, and data structures.
Possess a foundational understanding of computer architecture (ARM/x86), operating system fundamentals, and the ability to read assembly language.
Have experience in compiler construction, code generation, LLVM infrastructure, or debugger fundamentals like GDB, LLDB, and DWARF.
Experience with LLVM, Clang, GCC, or GDB open-source toolchains including custom passes or extensions (preferred).
Familiarity with DWARF debug format, ELF structures, symbol tables, and GNU Binutils (preferred).
Experience with Python/Linux shell scripts in CI/CD, cross-compiling for embedded systems, or integrating AI developer tools (preferred).
