As a Senior Specialist Systems Engineer within the IR sensors business area and Missile Solutions segment, you will serve as a technical lead or subject matter expert to solve complex technical challenges. You will manage the full system development lifecycle, including technical planning, design, analysis, implementation, system integration, validation, and verification. Your daily work involves performing systems analysis to determine how environmental changes affect performance and conducting evaluations to identify necessary improvements. The role requires expertise in Electro-Optical/Infra-Red (EO/IR) sensor systems and components. You will act as a technical point of contact for customers and suppliers while mentoring team members. Key competencies include complex problem solving, decision making regarding cost and benefit, and knowledge of military or NASA component specifications, design processes, and hardware test procedures to support critical defense technology programs.
Perform systems engineering for Electro-Optical/Infra-Red (EO/IR) sensor systems.
Lead and support technical planning, system integration, validation, and verification activities.
Conduct systems analysis to determine how environmental changes affect performance outcomes.
Evaluate system performance indicators and identify actions needed to correct or improve results.
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers and suppliers.
Coach and mentor other team members on engineering tasks and processes.
Manage the full system development lifecycle from concept through installation and disposal.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree and at least 6 years of relevant experience, a Graduate degree and 4 years of experience, or 10 years of experience without a degree.
Must have an active DoD security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Experience in systems engineering for EO/IR (Electro-Optical/Infra-Red) sensor systems (preferred).
Experience in technical disciplines supporting EO/IR sensor or component work (preferred).
Experience with architecture, specification, implementation, simulation, test, verification, validation, and debugging (preferred).
Experience writing BOEs and supporting proposals (preferred).
Knowledge of military and/or NASA component specifications, design processes, and hardware test/verification procedures (preferred).
