Senior Specialist, SATCOM Systems Engineer joins the Communication Systems team to support the full lifecycle of advanced data link and SATCOM systems from concept through phase-out. This role involves managing requirements across system levels, ensuring traceability and change control while contributing to technical baseline development, trade studies, and architecture decisions. The engineer will develop technical documentation, manage risks, perform root-cause analysis, and collaborate with cross-functional teams on integration and verification activities. Key skills include expertise in hardware and software-intensive systems, requirements management, and interface definition. Technical competencies include experience with signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network testers, and Model-Based Systems Engineering methodologies. The role addresses complex engineering challenges for military communications systems, including SATCOM and line-of-sight solutions, while ensuring products meet specific cybersecurity requirements and mission standards in a high-stakes environment.
Execute systems engineering activities across the full lifecycle including requirements development, architecture definition, and integration.
Manage customer and derived requirements to ensure decomposition, traceability, change control, and verification closure.
Contribute to technical baseline development, trade studies, and design reviews for complex communication systems.
Develop and maintain technical documentation such as specifications, interface control documents, and test plans.
Perform risk management, root-cause analysis, and corrective action planning for cost, schedule, and performance requirements.
Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers while improving systems engineering processes and MBSE practices.
Support customer engagements, technical reviews, and program milestones through clear communication of technical information.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree and 6 years of experience, a graduate degree and 4 years of experience, or 10 years of experience without a degree.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Experience supporting complex systems engineering for integrated communications, SATCOM, or data link systems (preferred).
Background in requirements management, system architecture, interface definition, integration, and verification for hardware and software-intensive systems (preferred).
Experience designing, building, integrating, testing, and optimizing military communications systems (preferred).
Experience with lab test equipment such as signal generators, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and network testers (preferred).
