TL;DR · Senior Product Development Engineer

As a Senior Product Development Engineer on the Operations NPI Product Development Engineering team, you will transition products from engineering concepts to high-volume datacenter platforms. You will own and deliver manufacturing, test, and failure analysis processes for server assemblies incorporating GPU, CPU, and high-speed interconnect technologies. Your daily responsibilities include developing product development plans, participating in DFX reviews, collaborating with multi-functional teams, and troubleshooting hardware during prototype builds. You will also analyze build dashboards, perform rework, and create SOPs for assembly and testing. Required expertise includes experience with complex compute or networking hardware, components like HBM and Ethernet, and proficiency in Linux command line environments. The role focuses on solving manufacturing challenges for large-scale datacenter infrastructure by ensuring high-quality production through data-driven process improvements and technical collaboration with contract manufacturers.

What you'll do

  • Develop and deliver manufacturing, test, and failure analysis processes for new datacenter servers and assemblies.
  • Manage the transition of products from engineering concepts to high-volume production during the NPI phase.
  • Participate in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Test (DFT) reviews to ensure high product quality.
  • Drive solutions for day-to-day problems during prototype and validation builds with factory personnel.
  • Analyze build dashboards to monitor throughput, yields, and failures while implementing process improvements based on data.
  • Debug server platforms, perform minor rework, and recover units according to published guidelines.
  • Create technical documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for assembly, testing, and failure analysis.
  • Coordinate with contract manufacturers to ensure smooth factory assembly and test operations.

What we're looking for

  • BS/MS degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 12+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Proven experience in the design and manufacture of complex compute or networking hardware platforms.
  • Knowledge of components including CPUs, GPUs, HBMs, and interfaces like Ethernet, PCIe, I2C, and SPI.
  • Ability to diagnose and solve problems on complex hardware platforms using factory-setting diagnostic/test software.
  • Familiarity with the Linux command line for running commands and reviewing outputs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with global teams and creating documentation.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, typically 2-3 times per quarter.
