As a Senior Manufacturing Systems Engineer – DeltaV within the Facilities & Engineering group, you will lead technical projects to drive innovation and support upstream, downstream, and solution preparation automation needs. You will solve complex engineering problems, provide leadership to the Automation Engineering team, and partner with capital project teams to design, build, commission, and qualify new equipment for drug substance production. Your daily work involves site design, construction, operational readiness, and troubleshooting process control issues. You will utilize Emerson DeltaV Distributed Control Systems, OPC, Foundation Fieldbus, and Profibus while ensuring compliance with 21 CFR Part 11, ASTM 2500, S88, S95, GAMP, GDP, and GMP standards. This role addresses the technical challenges of integrating advanced manufacturing technologies into a biopharmaceutical production facility to ensure seamless, automated operations for drug substance manufacturing.
Lead technical projects to support upstream, downstream, and solution preparation automation needs.
Develop process control automation solutions using the Emerson DeltaV Distributed Control System.
Support capital project teams in designing, building, commissioning, and qualifying new equipment.
Provide 24/7 on-site and on-call troubleshooting for process control and utility automation systems.
Lead root cause analysis and investigations for technical issues related to plant operations.
Manage new product introductions by performing automation assessments and implementing system configuration changes.
Develop and maintain detailed specifications, SOPs, and operating standards for manufacturing processes.
Mentor and develop the site's technical automation capabilities and engineering staff.
What we're looking for
High School Diploma/GED with 10 years of engineering experience, Associate’s with 8 years, Bachelor’s with 4 years, or Master’s with 2 years of experience.
Doctorate degree is an acceptable educational qualification for this role.
Preferred degrees include Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, or Biotech Engineering.
Extensive experience with Emerson DeltaV and Process Control Network design including network segregation.
Experience in process control engineering and troubleshooting within a GMP biopharmaceutical production facility.
Knowledge of manufacturing unit operations such as bioreactors, chromatography, viral filtration, and ultrafiltration.
In-depth knowledge of industry standards including 21 CFR Part 11, ASTM 2500, S88, S95, GAMP, GDP, and GMP.
Experience in Capital Project Lifecycle Management from conceptual design through implementation and validation.
