Senior Manufacturing Systems Engineer: Automation - DeltaV (Swing Shift Monday - Friday) serves as a technical leader within the Facilities & Engineering team to support drug substance manufacturing operations. This role involves providing automation leadership to engineers while collaborating with capital project teams to deliver robust process control systems for a new production facility. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining Emerson DeltaV distributed control systems, managing change controls, performing root cause analysis, and supporting commissioning and qualification efforts in a GxP environment. The position requires expertise in DeltaV Live, OPC, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, and DeviceNet technologies while ensuring compliance with 21 CFR Part 11, ASTM 2500, S88, and S95 standards. The role focuses on integrating advanced manufacturing technologies into the facility to improve workflow, productivity, and system reliability for large-scale drug substance production.
Develop and maintain process control systems on the Emerson DeltaV distributed control system (DCS).
Translate process requirements from subject matter experts into digital automated solutions.
Provide technical leadership for automation engineering teams in a GxP manufacturing environment.
Manage capital projects, including commissioning, qualification, and integration of new drug substance technologies.
Lead root cause analysis, incident investigations, and troubleshooting for process control issues.
Execute day-to-day operations including 24/7 on-call support, system administration, and spare parts management.
Author and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and other required cGMP documentation.
Manage change controls, CAPAs, and deviations to ensure operational excellence and data integrity.
What we're looking for
Must have a High School Diploma with 10 years of experience, Associate’s with 8 years, Bachelor’s with 4 years, or Master’s with 2 years of engineering experience.
A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, Biotech Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Experience with Emerson DeltaV DCS and DeltaV Live systems is required for process control system maintenance.
Must have extensive knowledge in programming, design, installation, and lifecycle management of manufacturing process controls and field instrumentation.
Proficiency in troubleshooting and integrating various automation technologies including OPC, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, and DeviceNet.
Ability to interpret and apply GAMPs, GMPs, 21 CFR Part 11, ASTM 2500, S88, and S95 standards.
Experience in Capital Project Lifecycle Management including conceptual design, scope development, and engineering validation documentation.
