The Senior Manufacturing Systems Engineer: Automation - DeltaV (Swing Shift Monday - Friday) provides technical leadership to a group of automation engineers within the Facilities & Engineering team. This role involves building and maintaining automation systems for GMP Drug Substance Plant Operations, specifically focusing on the Emerson DeltaV distributed control system. Key responsibilities include developing process control solutions, managing capital projects, performing root cause analysis, and supporting commissioning and qualification efforts. The position requires expertise in DeltaV Live, OPC, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, and DeviceNet technologies. Candidates must navigate a highly regulated GxP environment, ensuring compliance with 21 CFR Part 11, ASTM 2500, S88, and S95. The work involves integrating new drug substance manufacturing technologies into a facility featuring disposable technologies and stainless steel equipment.
Develop and maintain the process control system on the Emerson DeltaV distributed control system.
Transform process requirements from subject matter experts into digital automated solutions.
Support computerized systems validation processes and maintain Data Integrity Assessments in a GxP environment.
Lead technical root cause analysis, incident investigations, and troubleshooting for process control issues.
Manage 24x7 onsite and on-call operational support, including preventive and corrective maintenance.
Lead automation engineering assessments and configuration changes for new product and technology introductions.
Prepare and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and cGMP documentation.
Support commissioning and qualification efforts including Automation Installation Verification and Check Out.
What we're looking for
High School Diploma/GED and 10 years of engineering experience, Associate’s and 8 years, Bachelor’s and 4 years, or Master’s and 2 years of engineering experience.
Doctorate degree is accepted as a qualifying education.
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, Biotech Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
Direct knowledge of automation system design and process control engineering for GMP biopharmaceutical production equipment (preferred).
Experience with Emerson DeltaV DCS, including network design, virtual infrastructure, and integration using OPC, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, and DeviceNet (preferred).
Experience with DeltaV Live (preferred).
Ability to interpret and apply GAMPs, GMPs, 21 CFR Part 11, ASTM 2500, S88, and S95 (preferred).
Experience in Capital Project Lifecycle Management and developing process control strategies for New Product Introduction (preferred).
